New Kit

I went to check that SG out and noticed they also make a "Von PitBull", somebody tell Robert :) :) ;-)

Bolt neck? Weird.

My friend Dr. Eric builds his guitars from scratch I was going to buy a Fender Custom Shop Esquire for $6600.00 Eric said just build your own so I did It's better than any Fender Custom Shop guitar. ]

I believe that! I bought into the hype and purchased two Custom Shop Strats. Most overrated, overpriced guitars I have ever owned, and one of them was a super fancy-pants numbered (#3 out of 100), limited edition deal. The stock G&L's I have had are better in every way for a fraction of the price.

Progress has been slow working through some problems with this electric resonator kit. The status at sales point has change to "for experienced builders" and the price has dropped. The seller has given me a refund equal to the discount, great people. I'm still happy and yesterday received glue to set the neck AND yet another kit. The new one is a spalted maple 12 string Tele. To add further work to my backed up list of jobs I've also made inquiry on a third kit that took my eye, will comment further when stock arrives in Australia.

Ironic, isn't it???

You know, I'm not the smartest guy, but I agonize over every detail of a guitar before I send it to someone. I mean it has to be right. I ship them with bubble wrap between the strings and frets so it doesn't arrive with nicks in the frets. I intonate slightly flat, so its in-pitch when fretted. Action is measured and every string is played at every fret and evaluated.

I am shocked at some of the custom shop models I have played....

Gonna string with six???

Gonna string with six???

Very funny, if it's 12 string it's for my wife. The 6 string resonator is mine, the 12 string Tele is hers.

That looks like fun! My 10 year old wants a double neck!

Hmmmm....I could cut the Gibson 'open book' profile into those headstocks for him. Wouldn't that look cool in a black walnut stain and oil finish???

Go for it, not a lot of money and imagine how happy he'd be to have one like dads.

Glued the resonator neck yesterday. I'll give it 48 hours clamped before the next step.

I used to string Mom's 12 string Alvarez with 6 to make it a wide neck...just curious.

Any comments please regarding using the kit supplied cap (2A473J) in following photo. The numbers mean nothing to me, it's a part of the original supplied harness with THREE 500K pots. I'll be running a 500K volume pot for the mini humbucker, a 250K volume pot for the Peizo and a 500K pot for tone.

Credit and thanks to Dave Johnson for showing me how to wire this odd-ball.

Looks like a 47nf polyester film cap...

I've now been told it's 100v .047uf and correct for the application so I'll recycle it into the new harness unless additional information arises.

Nice job on the clamping caul over the fretboard.

Thanks, that's the recommended way to clamp according to the "PitBull" guitar building forum.
