Yep. The Beast Buckers are supposed to be clones of the PAFs in «the Beast», Bernie Marsden’s 1959 Les Paul. OX4 pickups are also worth considering, by the way. The OX4 Hot Duanes I just put in my Derek Trucks SG have totally blown me away.Hmmm...I know, based on my personal experience with the Thro-Bak SLE-101's, that I want to stay very close to original PAF specs....

Ok. I posted this in my New Pickup Day thread, but might as well do it here too. Since Adrian asked for it. Sorry to hijack your thread, Robert!

Hey, Gahr!!!
Dig this - I was noodling on a colleague's Les Paul's last night and I must say, I thought the tone was amazing, so I asked what he had under the hood. I was expecting BK, Thro-Bak, Lollar, ya know, something pretty wicked...Nope, just a Seymour Duncan SH1 59!!!
So I started looking at these and the Alnico 2 Pro Humbucker. Have you ever tried these???
I shot a call down to Seymour's place and made an inquiry about what Felder has been getting and Don is basically getting a SH1 59 wound by hand in the custom shop.
The only Seymour Duncans I am somewhat familiar with are the Phat Cats (humbucker-sized P90s) and the Seth Lover bridge pickup. The Seth Lover is A2 and sounds excellent. The '59s are A5, I think. I'm sure they are great pickups. Seymour Duncans seem to be great value for money.
Nice sound clips Gahr! It's strange listening to your voice for the first time. I did not imagine you sounding like this. Perhaps I was expecting a strong accent.
I know what you mean. Hearing people's voices for the first time is always weird when it is someone you in a way have known for quite some time.Nice sound clips Gahr!
