Gorgeous Godins

Its time for guitar Players to rise up and come to owning a high quality Godin guitar, at a very reasonable price.:)

Just like that white Godin Belmont guitar I saw in the pawn shop...I keep thinking about it. At first it didn't catch me right away but it's a kind of guitar that can grow on you. I really liked the Bigsby vibrato on the guitar which gives it a vintage vibe. I'm pretty certain I'll see more Godin guitars whenever I visit the pawn shop for guitar browsing.

JUST DO IT BLACKIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're tempting me again Blues Session 5...stop that!:) Maybe I can do a monthly payment plan or something. I usually do cash & carry deals at the pawn shop so I avoid paying taxes and get a better deal. I'm just on a tight budget at the moment but now you're making me GAS real bad.

It sure is a really nice guitar...I think it has a slightly arched top on the body which looks cool. I'll have to do some wheeling and dealing on my next visit. I hope the price is lower than I think...maybe $650 or so. Bigsby vibrato units themselves go for around $300 so it may be a good deal after all. Fingers crossed.:)

Well as you all might know I did pull the trigger on that Godin Belmont guitar in post #23. I think I had it for about 2 weeks now and it's a pretty amazing piece of workmanship. I haven't touched my Fender American Std. Strat since I got the Godin. My Gibson SG and other guitars are currently stored at my sister-in-law's place so I just have now my Fender Strat and a 2006 Epiphone Les Paul Standard in black plus the Godin guitar at home. I did a good set up on it...the action was a bit high so I lowered it enough so there is no string buzz anywhere on the fret board. I gave the fret board a real good cleaning with soap & water with a rag to wipe down off all the gunk. I used Brasso to polish up all the frets nicely and after made sure the FB was totally clean. I applied a coat of FB lemon oil and let it soak for a good 20 minutes or so. I repeated the process a couple of more times just for good measure and the fret board looks & feels silky smooth.

I also set up the intonation which turned out well and the guitar stays in tune as I go up the fret board. The bridge on the Godin guitar is a bit quirky and unique looking and the roller saddles really help with tuning stability. I also slapped on a new set of Ernie Ball strings (10-46) since the previous strings were pretty dead and what a difference in sound. When I play it unplugged the guitar really rings in sound. I also set up the height of all the Seymour Duncan pick ups for optimal sound. I usually press the high "E" string on the last (22nd) fret and measure 1/16" from the top of the pick up to the bottom of the string. I do the same on the low "E" string side but I measure 1/8" distance. Then I plug the guitar into an amp and do a bit more tweaking and the results are very satisfactory. The SD pick ups sound pretty awesome and the Duncan '59 in the bridge position handles clean and distorted sounds spot on.

The Bigsby vibrato also works very well with the new strings which have been stretched and settled in. It stays in pretty good tune and the Bigsby looks pretty darn cool on the guitar. I think it adds more resonance to the guitar since the Bigsby is a good sized unit. I really like the contours and beveling on the body itself and even the belly cut on the back with extra beveling on the backside of the horns. According to the specs the body colour is called Laurentian white with a 3-ply black pick guard (black/white/black). The guitar is like a cross between a Strat, SG, and a Mosrite guitar put all together. The neck feels great and I instantly bonded with the guitar with it's overall feel.

Here's another picture of the guitar but the hard-tail version and different body colour and you can see all the contours and beveling which adds to the ergonomics of the guitar.

Here's another gorgeous Godin guitar which is the Richmond Dorchester model. This guitar in the video is in a lovely cherry burst and sort of has that Rickenbacker vibe to it since it's semi-hollow bodied and has the looks. It has a 25.5" Fender scale neck with 21 frets. The body has very nice bevelling and curves to it and just looks great! It also features the revolutionary Lace Alumitone pick ups which sound crystal clear and handles distortion very well. The design of the guitar is very cool looking and a very tempting guitar to buy.

Here's another video of the Dorchester guitar but with the Bigsby vibrato unit on it.
