This is a head scratcher a friend brought to me. G string jangles like a Sitar, open or fretted, which makes me think it could be a bridge issue. I have taped every part of the guitar and muted strings behind nut and at bridge and the problem persists. Intonation is spot-on. All strings are clearing the frets. Hmmm....
 
Ok...at first glance, everything looked OK. Even the intonation was decent...but then...I saw the chrome plating in the G/b/e/ grooves on the saddle were peeling and the groove was rough. I dressed it with a appropriately sized welding tip cleaner, then followed up with abrasive cord.

Fixed!!!!

I second! Sitar Metal--- only decent use for that instrument---other than target practice...............

how many years does it take to tune one of those things..........ugh
