Headphones: $100 v $300 v $500.

Ya but those 2 old boys know how to Rock.

I don't think either band would be or is as good without either Brad or Derek. Joe Perry may be a Toxic Twin, but Brad and Tom Hamilton on bass drive that band.

Sounds good, very good.

Did you listen thru headphones, Betty? I could really hear the life of those Lesters and the skill in their fingers while hearing them played by Brad and Derek thru mine.

I have the output of the computer running through my THR10, so the sound is good. But, after your post, I put the Shure 535s in, and you're right, the LPs had a lovely growl and depth (and even a bit of tele spank) to them. Very nice.

When picking out headphones, I've always looked at frequency response, especially on the bass side. The lower, the better.

A tip regarding headphones. Superlux HD681, notably the B version (=less bassy, more linear, capable of studio monitoring use).
Cost about 25 € and better than almost anything in the range of more than 100 € (or more). My Sennheiser HD 650 is clearly better - but that requires good uncompressed recordings and good amplifiers, like my Linear Acoustics Preamp. I have a few headphones in that intermediate low end range - none beats the Superluxes. On listening Youtube videos though my mac book, there is almost no quality gain from the Superlux to the Sennheiser.

Blue Tooth head phones are fantastic. I near hung by that 20' line till dead. Really, I want them to last a year and I'm happy. No matter the money I will break them. I can't tell sound in some.008 decibels or even in the ball park. I want a big ass speaker when possible. All the best head phones are only ok.

I haven't used a pair of headphones since.......well maybe the 70s...I know an 8 track player was involved.

Dont like my audio peripherals blocked...... I know folks that wear headphones on their motorcycles (or earplugs) --- not me I like to HEAR everything going on all around me all the time---- keeps the multiple personalities occupied. :)

How can you hear anything with those Megaphone pipes your running!:D

I just look I don't buy but I have seen head phones the price of great stereo speakers. Now put them in a bag and please do be careful, cause the headphone cost $3,430. Bucks!
My older brother bought stuff like this and a headphone amp. You all have seen the crazy price tags on that stuff. He is alone and has a listening room yet goes for the headphone mess.
I took his words and say I want to be as close to a great speaker when I can.
I sit next to great speakers with my headphones on. People are against loud music or be it the truth against a good time.

When I travel I use the Shure 215's and they sound just fine. My old ears can't pick up many nuances of more expensive headphones.

At home I use Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro over the ear style. They sound fantastic!

I know just what you speak of.

when I use headphones I go old school and use my KOSS Pro 4A, I have others also, but the Koss is for serious listening.

I wish I could find my old Koss. They are bulletproof. I have the JBLs a week now and they are ok.
On the price I am staying at $100 bucks. I can't tell the difference and some one will go home with them around their neck or sit on them. I'm not an ear lobe snob

A little headphone update:

Due to my iPhone 8 being a pain in the arse with no 3.5mm headphone jack (bastards...), I bought two pairs of bluetooth headphones - both cost $150:

Beats X - I don't like the brand and expected them to be shite, but they are decent. Music sounds nice, not so detailed or audiophile, but they always sound good. They work really well with an iphone, get several hours of battery from a 5 minute charge (it's true!) and are very comfortable to wear. These are my goto with the iPhone.

Shure 215 bluetooth - don't waste your money! The sound is better than the Beats X if you can connect them to a bluetooth device (which rarely works); battery life is shite; bluetooth distance is shite; noise is terrible - crackling, etc. They should never have been released because they are faulty by design, the battery/bluetooth/phones do not work together. Shame on Shure for selling such a shite product which they know is faulty (endless complaints online...). Due to shite Korean service, I basically threw them in the bin and lost my $150...

Bought a set of Sennheiser HD202 several years ago. Me and ear buds don’t get along so I use the headphones with my phone. Use them plugged into my cheapo multieffect box so I can practice without Mrs. IbLive throwing heavy objects at me. They were inexpensive but work good enough for what I use them for.

I always wind up destroying them. I don't want to be rough on them but it happens. I've actually have had great luck with Marshall headphones. I do like the sound quality of Sennheiser and AKG. I need to take in my AKGs which are on warranty for a new set. I need to repair some of my older Sennheiser ones I've beat on.

Looks more like microphones to me. You would think for that price they would come with no holes ….:D
