Over 50 and FABULOUS ..................

God damn you, Adrian! Lucky, lucky bastard. Why are there no barns like that in my area???

Kidding aside: Have you thought about restoring it a bit to get it closer to its original condition? Like putting a mudbucker-style pickup back in the hole in the neck?

I have gahr.....I consider a total strip and refin......but with the "p" pups GLARING out.....that seemed a lot of time for nothing ...and I would not to erase the MOJO and earned patina........BUT a MUDBUCKER is most CERTAINLY in the future ;)

Adrian, I would not touch a MOJO'd finish at all ever. If I got a player with scars, I'd leave em and install the proper pups/wiring etc and at least have some semblance of the guitar as it was intended to be.

For instance, while my blind friend is a way better player than me and he got the EMG loaded SG to sound great, I still feel like it would be wise to re-install the original pups and pots/wiring and get it like a newborn baby 1976 SG in a 42 year old SG trim.

I'd leave the finish alone as well.

How does the routing under that bridge pickup look? Would it be possible to install an aftermarket EB3-style bridge pickup without it looking bad?

And what's with the plastic plate under the bridge?

The MOJO is safe----- but---I HAVE to have a MUDBUCKER :)

PErhaps a cover over the "P" pups

Like this -- so they are still THERE --- but not really VISIBLE.....

And what's with the plastic plate under the bridge?

I plan to keep the "P" pups--- (though will change to passive) the bridge is after, market and the plastic cover is to hide the routing

REST ASSURED the finish is safe ---- I like it to much--- same with all my vintage beaters....the Peavey T-series....the Gibson G3 .... they earned them battle wounds I aint hiding em

that bridge seems to have been a regular replacemtn for awhile

Here is another VITNAGIE SG bass for sale in the hood.
not sure why but the black plastic was a "thing"

Looks like you’re just going to have to figure out a good control set up.
Maybe concentric knobs? Or push/pulls?

I guess a push pull knob........or concentric would work as well lots to look into
