Neck Profiles - Dealbreaker or Preference???

haha Black, my 2 Am Stds are older siblings to your 20 yr old. My 2 are 28 and 29/

Thanks for this.... Robert

So that means you have a 1989 & 1990 Strat me little BIG buddy...awesome! The Standard I think was introduced in 1988. The first 22 fret Strat came out in 1987 and I think it was called the Elite. You have some history there and thanks for posting that video...might try to practice it since the title has the word "black" in it.:)

Totally a deal breaker for me.

Why in the name of (insert applicable deity here) would I own,
buy or even want a guitar that is not comfortable in my hands?

To prove how adaptable I am?
To prove "I can play any guitar"?
What a truckload of rhino turds.

I hear some people like it when they have to "fight" a guitar?
Are those people stupid in the other parts of their lives too?

Correct, 89/90. My first Strat was a 91 in Gun Metal Blue
Hard to find color. I shouldn't have sold that one.

That sounds like a pretty cool colour...Gun Metal Blue...never heard of that one. Believe it or not I thought my Strat was black when I saw it through the window of the pawn shop late in the evening when the store was closed. The next day when the store was open and I walked in to buy it I saw that it wasn't black but a very deep Bordeaux purple with subtle metal flakes on the body. I thought it was a nice colour even though it wasn't black. The colour grew on me over the years and I really love it now.:)

I'm with Black& eSGEe on this. The 60's thin taper.
My 61RI has a perfect neck for me.
Same with my PRS Custom 22, with the wide thin neck profile. It fits me.
The Gretsch Corvette also shares a similar profile, it has quickly assumed keeper status.
Dont forget old PEAVEYS.........love that neck .........love it ....and its the same on the BASSES!!! ......yup

Yeah Black,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I remember that story. Bordeaux woo woo.

That 1st one they called a Strat Plus, I think the other 2 are Am Std's. When it comes to Fender Necks, I have always felt very comfortable with the ones I own. Another friend recently got some super chunky necked Teles. Those felt really good in my hand.

My 89 and 90 are one of each............. my 91 had Rosewood. I forget what year my Sunburst Strat was, but it had a Rosewood too.
No preference on Fboard material either. I will play Maple, rose, Ebony etc
