This is my first PRS experience. So far so good!
I just read about these coming out this year, and wouldn’t you know my favorite local shop already acquired one. I stopped in last week on my way home from work just to shoot the breeze with the owner, and maybe see if there was anything cool that I could dump some old gear towards. There it was... a PRS SE Chris Robertson signature single cut in black cherry burst.
Last year, I was tempted by a Santana SE...with its “wide/fat” neck, and 25.5” scale...but I let it slide. The neck was fantastic though, so when I read about the Chris Robertson being spec'd out with the same neck I was curious. It turned out to be irresistible to me.
Since I had picked up a new(to me) bass rig, I had my old rig plus a few other odds and ends gathering dust...so...out with the old, and in with the new...I guess.
The best part...the pickup set is right up my alley!

“How are you with trades Bob?” “Can you hold this for me?”

I just finished playing my first little session with it, and I’m impressed.
The neck feels great! I need a strap for it, as it doesn’t seem to want to behave with the lengths set on the others kicking around here, but I got comfortable enough.
The neck joint is a little different than a Gibson LP, but in a good way. Upper fret access is easy, and natural feeling. Fretwork feels good. Controls are weirdly set up(to me), but I acclimated quickly. The pickups are better than I expected in my rig. I had plugged it in to a small silver/grey Marshall in the shop, and couldn’t get a sound near what I expected, but I chalked it up to an unfamiliar amp. At home, this thing can blister flesh, or soothe the soul. A nice array of sounds are available, and fairly intuitive to dial in. A push/pull splits the bridge pickup for a surprisingly good sound, and output level. The P90 was the only good sounding thing in the shop Marshall...at home, it was awesome! Not too wooly, but thick and beefy.
The wrap around is comfy, and solid feeling for my heavy handed style of rhythmic picking.
The jury is still out on wether the PRS beveling on the top, and belly cut, are a remedy to the typical picking forearm soreness after a long, hard session....but no sore spot after my first hour of play with it.
Anyway sorry for the crap pics, the honeymoon begins.

Super Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TB Don, great looking piece. I too have been happy with the SE build and quality. So what are the 4 controls?
The two knobs closest to center line are volume. The one closest to the bridge stud is neck, and further back bridge. The two knobs that are closer to the edge are tone. The one furthest back is the bridge tone control, that also splits the bridge humbucker.

Oh yeah, couple of footnotes.
My Schecter C1 Classic was part of the trade fodder.
This PRS SE streets for $10 more than my natural SG did, and came with a gig bag.
So I darned well better be giddy with it!

Thinking outloud...My Schecter C1 Hellraiser was great guitar. Never had to do anything to it since buying it new in 2005, but somehow, I never really "connected" with it...even though it was used often...

Thanks guys!
Looking forward to playing it tonight, but no full band for a couple of weeks...maybe I’ll fire up some recording gear.

Great looking guitar you bastard!:D You should have also picked up that gorgeous white Gretsch behind the PRS!
