Oh yeah. I had a 1957 Les Paul Special. It was supposed to be the end-all for me at the time (this was many years ago) but ended up being a turd. Not because there was anything wrong with it, quite to the contrary, it was an exceptional example of what a Special should be. No, it was just a completely wrong fit for me - I'm less Johnny Thunders and more Jimmy Page than I was willing to believe at the time and no amount of fiddling with knobs was ever going to make that thing sound the way I wanted. Anyway, I sold it for more than I paid after only about a year and got myself a nice carved-top Standard, which was much better suited to me and what I was playing.
