Ace Frehley Blasts Gene, Paul & Tommy...

I too was a Space Ace Fan.......and his guitar playing........inspired me......and still does....but---and I have said this before---I like his playing, but I dont think I could spend 5 minutes in a room with him--

I dont "side" with Gene or Paul--- over Ace Or Peter--- I can tell you Ace and Peter had BETTER solo albums back when they each did there own thing.

IT is what it is......the old KISS albums....Alive and Alive II and Hotter than HEll--- Rock N Roll Over........all AMAZING great albums.....

I suffered from depression & alcoholism so I can relate to Ace on that part which he explains in the video. Tommy Thayer should come up with a different outfit and not copy Ace's creation.

I seriously doubt that the costume was his creation.
All their costumes were probably designed by
people who specialize in that sort of thing.
The same goes for their stage sets, pyriothchnics, lighting
and any choreography that may have been used.
The entire kiss circus was designed and manufactured
by professional "image and marketing" people.

LOL I liked a couple songs on all of them --- but I liked Aces ---from start to finish.
Peters was a little "Barry Manilow" ish lol
GEne and Pauls where ----predictable--- even to a 10 year old LOL

Not saying you are wrong because I don't know for sure but as a lifelong Kiss fan the lore I always heard repeated over and over was that when they started out they were doing basically a glam thing that simply evolved from what they were doing in the NYC bars. In the early days they just all painted their faces white

And then by '73 started to develop their personas

(and how badass is PS with a Custom and Ace with a Breadwinner of all things?)

The full costumes and stageshows came later, but I do believe that they all developed their own "characters" for the band, which is why Ace talks about licensing the Space Ace character to Kiss Enterprises.

Yeah. Ace fan as well. Really like his “Space Invader” album. Just some plain and simple rock. Just the way I like it. As for Ace in KISS. Just seemed to like him a bit better than Tommy. The original Space Man.

I'm going against the grain not a KISS fan
I understand. I was kinda a late bloomer KISS fan. They had songs I’ve always liked. Just not enough to buy an album. For whatever reason, somewhere in the last 10 years I started watching some concerts on TV and found I was really getting into it.

The first 5 Kiss albums (Kiss, Hotter Than Hell, Dressed to Kill, Destroyer, Rock and Roll Over) are straight-up hard rock classics. Even if you never saw the makeup or knew of the stage show to influence you as a kid, that's some great music.

I was always one of those “I don’t get the makeup thing.” Small town rural boy that I am. Then one day I heard them on a talk show. Basically they said. It’s a stage act. When the shows over. We walk off the stage. Take off the makeup. We can walk into any restaurant or grocery store in the world and no one knows who we are. Face palm moment for yours truly.

 does not compute....

Just kidding -- :)
I had alll the KISS action figures! (I was 9--dont judge me)
