I have had one of those for about 5 years now. I use it occasionally, with some Dunlop 65 string cleaner solution. It works very well. I've yet to see the soft material fall apart.
Really? Acetone can be very damaging to a finish, especially nitro. I once saw a thread where a player's GF asked him to open her polish remover. He put his guitar down flat on the floor. In the process of trying to get the cap off, the contents went airborn and landed on the finish. The top looked like it had melted candle wax on it!Finger nail polish removal and the pinch method works fine for me.......
Just don’t mix up your toilet paperI use toilet paper dipped in rubbing alcohol to clean my strings. I guess I'm cheap that way.

I got one of those as a gift recently, and I agree. Not having anything to do with this thread but so what.
I bought an 8 inch square piece of stainless steel chain mail and
it is the best thing I have ever used for scrubbing out pots and pans.

Clean? Didn't Jaco coat his strings with chicken grease to increase their sonic mojo? I'm so confused.
