I'm starting to get use to seeing SG without pick guards. I'm a fan of the small bat wing type myself. This is an interesting guitar. My first proper electric ever is black. It is a 78 Mustang. I threw the box out back then. I had no idea about how it would matter today. I also gave away the Fender strap it came with. They make copies today of the strap at $20+ a pop or so. This SG with the FR wammy trem looks like it can make a person happy. I saw this SG on the SDOTD today. The price is actually pretty good for what you get. I like the 24 frets and the ceramic dirty fingers. The DFs I believe are the most powerful pups Gibson makes. I could be mistaken.

I don't mind the composite 'board, and those pickups are actually some of the best I have ever used, but a Floyd is a deal-breaker on any guitar for me.

Though I do like Floyd Rose trems, I think the FRX usually looks rather bulky.

However, on this guitar the black on black helps the FRX to blend in pretty well.

Let’s not forget that the FRX is a non routed system. There should be anchors in place for a stop bar at least, and removal of the unit should be fairly easy.
The locking nut...that’s a little different story.
If I had funds to blow I might have picked one up, ripped the Floyd off(and sold it), and tossed on a black bridge and tailpiece(or......gasp!....a black Stetsbar).

But probably not...

Well enough that I have two. It does what I want it to in a pretty trouble free manner.
I don’t use them too much, but when have needed them they have served me well.
I would entertain the idea of a third...if the right candidate were to appear.

I have installed Rose tremolos only three or four times. It is too much to do for what you get. Then try to explain one of those things to a blank face.
