The longest any of my guitars would be in a stand is the time it would take to take a photo. I don't believe leaving a guitar in a
stand for days or even hours on end is a good idea. It invites trouble.

I can respect that stance. I was that way for a long time after a headstock crack in a BC Rich many years ago.
I’ve since developed a taste for hanger style stands, and later the rack style.

I could see where that could be a problem like you say in some circumstances. I don't see it in my situation, I leave mine in their stands 24-7 there in a corner that is away from everything and majority of time no small children around. I have never had a reason not to. They are in a controlled climate, all of mine are electric no acoustic. The only time I put them in a case is when I'm going travelling with them.

What caused the headstock crack Thatbastarddon ? Did it fall out of the stand from little hands on it.
Playing during a hurricane...power failed...leaned the guitar on the amp(like one of those leaning stands...it was a Warlock, so fairly stable at the base)went to open the case...a large tree went down right outside the house...the cat freaked out, and jumped up on the amp...the guitar face planted.
Sadness.

I pretty much take Tony's approach. The only time my guitars will be on a stand for any length of time is between sets and/or while I'm playing another guitar. Otherwise, I follow a mantra Tony has stated before, "In my hands or in the case."

Yep. Took all of 30 seconds...if that. I was a teenager, the Warlock was a Japanese NJ series that I had worked long and hard for. What else is there for a teenager to do during a hurricane in the 1980s? I chose to play my ugly, pointy guitar until I couldn’t.
