It has a ding and a chip, I will post pictures of them later, but nothing really obvious. A bit of the lacewood top has been chipped off near the trem on one side, and there is a ding on the edge. The springs are noisy and the adjustment in the bridge is not the best. But I got it into tune
I've had a chance to play a Schecter guitar over ten years ago. I was very impressed with the quality and play-ability. It sure was a beauty guitar!

Guitar seems abnormally quiet now that I have it home. Didn't notice at the kid's house and he didn't have the master on his amp cranked. Might be something to do with the jack. Maybe I should try some contact cleaner?
The first thing I tried when that happened was I plugged in my Explorer. That was normal so it must be in the guitar. It reminded me of when my tech used a wire of the wrong impedance on my output jack
Also not overly impressed with the stock trem. If I can get the rest of it working well I might swap that out for a Gotoh sooner rather than later.

Okay so I have spent some time cleaning the guitar and setting up the strings and bridge today.
I also had a look in the pickup cavity and found that a long-leg Gibson style humbucker will fit in there without problems.
The bridge was tilted so I adjusted the claw after changing the strings. I fitted a new set of Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky 9-46 strings (which are what it seemed to have already) and tuned it EADGBE. At least I know how to string a guitar, not like the last twat who wound the D string on backwards and left the wrap intact after removing the ball end and jammed the wrap into the bridge (no wonder it didn't tune well). The strings generally seemed really old and spent. I suspect he just changed that one string when it snapped!
Here are some photos. The last one is of how it looks now after cleaning and restringing.

This upgrade is definitely on the cards. Not a fan of the construction of this tremolo, especially the casting as a knife edge. I want a FR that can flutter. But I acquired this guitar just as a modding platform and always figured on installing the best hardware into it later. I'll get someone to install the Gotoh studs and set it all up, including routing if necessary. I'm also thinking of getting a Tremol-No, that will make life easier for string changes and it is a decent claw.

Philadelphia Luthier Tools and Supply I would guess.
I have bought from them several times, mostly small parts, pick up magnets, and such.
if I choose to upgrade the licensed FR on my Jackson thats the way I would go too.
Not 100% sure of the dimensional compatibility yet though.

Yeah that's where I bought it from. Used a 5% off voucher on eBay, saved $US7 (which I am sure I will soon pay in mastercard interest on it).
Total was US$134.88 + $33.15 shipping. That's AU$226.
Given the quality of the Gotoh units that seems a lot better than the OFR alternatives.
In terms of the dimensions I am expecting to have to enlarge the holes in the guitar for the new stud bushings and possibly have the recess routed out a bit larger to clear the longer lock screws on the Gotoh unit. It might even need a bit of routing at the front of the recess to clear the bigger studs, I'm not sure. I'm not too worried as I am planning to have the body routed to accept a neck humbucker eventually anyway so I'll get it all done at the same time. It's the same surface (the top) so I don't think they will charge much more to do the trem recess in addition to the pickup cavity. I'll just put the stock pickguard and pickups and sort that out later when I have more money. I will probably just change the bridge pickup in the first instance anyway. I rarely use the neck pickup, although I might use it more if this trem inspires me to shred some.

I got a quote on doing all that work routing installing setting up etc today, AU$120, which is a great deal. When the parts arrive I'll take it all out there with a new set of strings to get sorted

All my guitars are great! I start with a stock guitar and keep modding it until it's perfect for me. Also means I can't really sell them without losing a heap of money 
I'm thinking I might get an alnico Black Hawk for the bridge and the special-order Impulse neck from Bare Knuckle for this guitar, and delete the middle pickup and have a new pickguard made with a 3-position switch. Tech says installing a neck humbucker would have an adverse affect on the tone due to removing that extra wood
