NG Project!

That will still make a beautiful Les Paul, I don't see it being a good looking Strat.
I am building a Jazz Master, I have every thing but the body and that will take three weeks so I ordered a new neck with a ebony fret board. I have maple fret board necks but I am looking for a match for the toilet seat blue body and gold metal pick guard. My work bench is a mess. IMG_7254.JPGIMG_7339.JPG

That is a shame because it is a beautiful piece of wood. I found both the body and neck on flee bay from guys I never heard of. I have very very bad fortune with necks.

That sure was a nice piece of wood Ray despite the crack!

So, it is through the body and secured with epoxy and sawdust. I have asked for a refund. Thanks to Gasket for his eagle eyes.

I said in post #9 "I wouldn't call it a show stopper, BUT is this a crack?"
Depending on the original price and what you may be able to get it down to now it doesn't have to be a show stopper. It could still be a beautiful addition to your collection.

It was a through body crack. he also said it was most apparent when looking at the heel and was going to send me additional photos. I was not comfortable and backed out. However, I may just get the other body he has from the same blank, presently unfinished. He will show me tonight.

I am very appreciative to you for pointing it out. Thanks again!

Yes, it is dissapointing, but he may still gave something for me.

Curious, is there anyone here who would have kept it, and at what price?

You may have picked up from the tone in my previous comments, YES I would have happily kept it even with the crack.
Price ... parts and complete guitars in Australia don't compare in ANY way with your US valuation. I think with a "stable" crack and as presented in photos I'd be in the Aust $100 area.

My cost is/was $300 USD shipped .

US $300 = about Aust $379. Not for me in that area with a crack.
By the time everything else to make a guitar was added to your $300 it would end up an expensive home build. I love your work but without a recognized professional builders name on it ... no :-(
