I called the Wolf, who should be arriving, presently.

Thanks everyone. So I did play her for a solid 5 minutes before deciding that she deserved the PRS Archtop pups I had waiting. I got a great price on the pickups because the chrome covers were scratched, so I took 150 grit and made them brushed covers. They came out nice. The old pickups still have the plastic on them and are up for grabs.

The fret work on this guitar was rather good, which I confirmed with a few passes of the leveling beam. It was a bit off, but not much.

The nut is plastic, but well cut. I have a bone nut, so I will replace it anyway.

The wiring was the same as on any inexpensive guitar, with thin wire, mini pots and a box switch. These will all be changed but I will still use mini pots.

It should be done tomorrow and I will post some pics and clips

One thing I tried recently was laying a piece of 1000# paper on a fret and then pressing the crowing file down over it...kind of gives a really shiny smoothness to the fret when a lot of cutting isn't needed.

Pretty sad when I know the sound of the UPS truck more than my own truck........(y)
I'm like that with our USPS mail/delivery truck... our postwoman is hot... :sneaky:

Yes, and a complete rewire/pup swap. I also installed strap locks and removed the PG. It is coming along nicely!
I wanted to suggest for you to record both sets of pups, and provide a comparison of both. Too late!

Congrats on a fine looking guitar...

Thank you! I am always down for a sound sample, but was not crazy impressed with the pups. I did not spend any time trying to dial them in though.
