Wow, man...this guitar just continues to amaze me. I have played 1275's before, but never with these huge necks. It just feels so perfect...no neck dive and only 10-1/2 pounds - flawless tuning stability. The only guitar I have ever woke up early just to play....
 
So maybe ive asked this before but why dont the double necks use the standard stop tail piece ???

LOL!!!

We can only speculate as Gibson has never (as far as I know) came out and gave a reason for it. I have heard the reason is because the flat mounted "top loader" has better sustain qualities and doesn't "rock forward" like the stud mounted tailpiece does...
 
Well, let me tell you this. A 10-1/2 pound guitar can be a real workout!!! Imagine that the Gibson EDS-1275's with 3 piece maple necks weighs over 15 pounds!!! I tend to sling it up high, in about the same position as when seated with it. This makes it much more comfortable....

With only 20 frets on your double-neck I bet the neck pick up has a really warm and bluesy tone compared to a 22-fret guitar. I also noticed the bridge pick ups are farther away from the bridge than on a Les Paul or regular SG. Do you find the tone a bit warmer on both pups Robert?

Standing and playing for 2 hours is quite an interesting experience. Not so much the weight across the shoulder, but the neck end starts getting heavy...

Because the necks are moved into the radius of the horn areas, only 20 frets are possible. The bridges are moved back to maintain the 24.75" scale lengths and the re-position of the pickups gives a very unique tone.

Yes they are. Every doubleneck that is based on the EDS-1275 will have the same bridge and pickup placement. It's really interesting when you look at where the bridge pickup is located and it produces a bridge tone like nothing else...similar to the middle pickup on a Black Beauty.
