ES-335 type Chibson

Both my Chibson gambles paid off. I have upgraded the Slash AFD to the hilt and have more money in parts
in the thing than it cost delivered. I just installed a set of EMG Fat 55's that were more all by themselves...

However now I have a really kick a$$ guitar!

I bought 2 Chibsons a Lester and a firebird...........the Lester is awesome amazing and beyond expectation---the Firebird was ......a disappointment--- not so much in its build quality (though it was not on par with the Lester) but the neck thickness was not clearly posted--- it was a gamble and I lost on that one.

Perhaps a Nice, Say Washburn Delta Blues
Peavey JF-1
(R4325) Peavey JF1 Red | Gear Exchange
OR a Jay Turser
Semi hollow body, Jay Turser | GL Music Store

I have owned the Washburn and the Turser and would have either back in a HEARTBEAT the PEavey is on my short list.....

Both really nice options. I had seen the Peavey before and almost pullednthe trigger. However, I am fixed on a natural finish, so it limited my choices. Anyway, the 8 week wait will give me some suspense!!

First of all, congratulations!!!

Second, if that guitar is anything like my Washburn was when I got it (though my Washburn is from Korea), you'll probably find the build quality to be surprisingly good for the money. But, you may find the electronics to be on the sub-par side. But, it really isn't that hard to replace them.

Again, congrats on the new addition!

Thank you. Your method of swapping electronics on a closed back inspired me. I may lean on you for advise in the future.

Somehow Smitty, I think Ray will be replacing the electronics before his 8 week wait is up.

8 weeks..........I give the stock electronics about 8 minutes after the box is open...........

Ha!

Y'all are probably right. BTW, Ray, Bourns makes some very good mini-pots that fit easily through the F-holes. They're better than most low-budget mini pots you find in these guitars. I put a set in my Washburn and am pretty pleased with them.

What a great idea!! I do have a pile of mini pots on hand (not Bourns). I will see if I can find 4 wourthy ones.

I was thinking about putting PRS Mcarty, PRS Mcarty Archtop, or Tom Anderson HC pups in this. All good choices, but the PRS Achtops take the natural lead.

I will let the company decide. The one in photo seems to lack a brand, so that is what I assume it will be like.

That opens all sorts of possibilities!

If it's blank, maybe you can get a decal made, or find a detail artist who can put "RVA" on the headstock!

I'm considering looking for detail artist who can pinstripe my Washburn.

Nice grab RVA. Sure, it's a gamble. You'll have that thing dialed in, no doubt.

Seems no secret to the masses, it's a blank canvas. You basically just purchased a body and neck. Your touch will make it a player regardless. Good luck!

Looks sweet - hope it is good bones.
I prefer the natural as well, I got a beauty natural Epi DOT used but it had issues and had to go back.

On my Ibby AS73,
I got the magnet swapped on the neck and hope to do the bridge later today.
Thats as far as I am going unless I have to; everything works fine at the moment.
