I adjust pick ups--- but I also ACCEPT non adjustable ones.....try the vanilla in the neapolitan ice cream.......go IN through the out door--- drive the wrong way down a one way street for a second ---- buy a blue tuxedo----you might find a whole new aural spectrum that you enjoy.......a thrill you never knew---and besides that, lifes too damn short to have not at least TRIED one.

I will "accept" a free guitar with dog ear pups. I will never buy one where a comparable or superior option exists. Of course, as soon as it gets in my hands, I will liberate that pickup from its shackles.

Sad. YOU will never know. Enjoy your "adjustability" however it is YOU in the shackles/enslaved to your own inability to adventure into a possibly unforgiving realm --- not the dog ear.

Les Paul Special Double Cutaway

I’ll take the 2 adjustable P90s, the individual controls, the bound fretboard, and locking Grovers please.

I like the SG junior too....but for maybe half the asking price...heck, I could pick up an SG special, and swap in a pair of soap bar P90s for the money they’re asking for the Jr...and I could keep the mini hums for a rainy day.

Yes, I will also never know what the inside of a prison feels like (or at least I plan it that way). That will also be something I will have to live with on my death bed. No prison or the dog ear thing. Regret is a tough pill to swallow, but I will try to find peace.

I never could "dig" P90 tone, so that was a non issue for me. I can't really comment either way.

I do crazy things like have humbuckers wound with offset coil winds to make them as quiet as possible...plus I put every humbucker 4/32" from the strings anyways.

I know the infernal Wolftone anomaly on Fenders made me hate them. If I got a pickup close enough to the sttings to sound good, I got a warbler.

My vintage 1995 DiMarzio YJM sounded great, but even unplugged, it prevented intonation because of the magnetic pull. It bugged me for years!

Even with a humbucker, the position of the neck pickup would induce a oscillation on the Fender. I began to feel like Leo was either tone deaf or had incredibly low standards for intonation and tone in general.

Pickup placement is whacked on the Stratocaster. I never had this problem on the Schecter Hellraiser with EMG's because they have very minimal magnetic pull.

I totally stopped playing anything with a 25.5" scale. I gave the 1987 Squirecaster to my 9 year old and my 2005 Schecter C1 Hellraiser to my oldest son.

There's nothing but 24.75" scale guitars here now...and no Wolftones.

I totally understands RVA's point regarding the adjustability of pickups (I mess around with pickup height a lot), but funnily enough, I have never felt the need to adjust the dogear in my Les Paul Junior. It growls, screams and sings perfectly without any screws needing to be turned. Of course, a dogear DOES lack flexibility, but when it so happens that it's not an issue, well, then it's just not an issue...

I also think adjustability is more important when you have more than one pickup. With two pickups in the guitar, you want a certain balance between the volumes of the pups. Without adjustable pickups, that will be more difficult to achieve.
