Here is My SG Build Project Husk...

This is what I'll be putting together in the next couple weeks.

The body has that unfilled kind of dull look. Any ideas how to
make it nice and shiny without a total refin???

Is your headstock 3 pieces like my 2016 SG T Series????

What kind???
I heard some good stuff about this a few years ago & used it on 2 guitars. You can buff it and really work it but I just put a layer of polish on and wiped it away to take the dry feeling away from a couple faded series.
I don't know if you can tell from that pic but I used it on the black one. I don't want to fight Photobucket right now for the other pics. Well maybe I will.:bash:

Thanks for the advice. I'll try that out!

Nice!
I like the faded just like it is.
I've never used polish or wax but none of my guitars are that thin lacquer faded finish.

Good luck with the build!!
I"m itching for another project but I have plenty of other things that need completion and / or tweaking.

Cool project. I did a gloss lacquer overspray on my SGJ.

Just the body & headstock. Wet sanding between coats to fill the pores & level the surface.
Just have to be careful not to sand thru to the color. Easy does it at this point.
Started at 600 grit and worked my way up to 2500 then a 3000 grit foam pad.

The finish ends up being pretty close to the finish on my 2005 61RI.
You can still see the grain but the finish is smoother & glossier.

I like the Gibson Satin and Worn finishes. They are actually my favorite finishes over all. But you won't hear complain about Gibsons Nitro Gloss finishes either ;)
