I know I bought a Fender Tube amp!

Yes I really did buy a very dependable Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. I am never going to fix the silly Silkyn amp, I am going to put it back together with all its new parts in a box. I will give someone the deal of their life and I might toss a guitar in.
I saw this Fender on eBay and place a bid and bought it. I did not win one thing because I had to pay. I never thought I would get it. One bid for $350.00 and shipping. The amp was owned by an old lady that only played it in church. Really a guy bought it and left it for his dad. Dad didn't want it. The kid bought it when he was 17 and is now 33 I think. The serial number is B - 069611 and is clean. I never thought I would get it for this little bit of money.
Tell me your thoughts so I can feel weird.

Awe cmon KP. Don't give up on the Silkyn! Congrats on the HRD though. If it would help, send me your chassis & new xformer less the tubes, I'll send you one of mine with the new PT installed already. & at least the reverb modded. Or, I'll just install yours, test & send back. You pay the freight is all. Slide it in & go! That amp is still my favorite!

I just don't have any free time man. I got stuck playing this weekend thing. It pays great and I have these dirty girls that love to pull their tops off with a couple drinks. I teach one class and do a run in the ER. I need me time and I have to go to practice. I have been borrowing a amp, Marshall 40 watt combo. I did not buy one because I really don't like it. I love my Silkyn but in ain't in the cards. You are very kind.

Those amps are a real workhorse. You can play most gigs, most genres, sound good, and they won’t break your back getting in and out of the venue.

Thank you. I was always a Fender guy. I really looked at the Marshall 40C and always past over it. It might just be me but I heard bad things about them. This will be a work horse.

Sorry to hear you throw in the towel on the Silkyn, Kev.
Didnt you start the whole movement over on MLP?
Ironic perhaps.

I get the time thing though, but just swapping in the transformer is not a big deal, especially if you were (iirc you were) happy with the clean channel, and a few pedals.

My experience with my friend's old HRD: The best and greatest improvement you can make to that amp is to replace the stock speaker. I'm not saying the stock speaker is bad, but there are replacements that really blow the doors off of it. I highly recommend the WGS Reaper... amazing difference.

Also, my friend gave me the green light to buy and install a packaged upgrade/mod kit for the old HRD from Fromel Electronics. The kit has like 9 mods that can be made to the HRD. The 9th mod is useless unless you want 2 clean channels with no dirt channel. I'll supply more details if you're interested. It really made an "OK" amp into a serious tone machine.

I can't swipe photos on eBay but this thing has a Celestron speaker, I think. I have a Green back on the way and I will put it in. I know it has the original tubes in it. I have a new set here, I am not sure if the original tubes are better than the Russian Tung Sol on my bench.

I be wrong and thank you for the speaker information. I have a big juicy green one for it.
Those are the real deal. Can't put my finger on it but when they switched production to Mexico the sound changed, and not for the better. Nice score!

I know they are made in Mexico now. This says made in the USA on the metal tag with the serial number. I think this about 17 years old. I have the number, I just need to check. My Mexican Strat in one of my best guitars.

I was the guy that discovered the Silkyn Amp thing. Same week I realised the earth is round. I love my Silkyn Amp. I really need a power punch amp for the hall we have been playing. I have been borrowing a friends Marshall 40C and that is one shaky bitch. i don't have the time or the eye sight for the job. It looks easy enough and I even got it near apart. I don't know if I can see well enough to do it.

See I am a not giving up, I am taking a break from the repair thing '
I have a Green back that I was going to put in the Silkyn. Since it is stone junk and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Like the creepy bastards at my les Paul the from their stupid lack of technology call this child of God a lier. I will put it in my second hand Fender.

Careful... your Celestion has a 25 watt rating. HRD is a 40 watter.

It is going in my Mono Price Amp. That was my intention when a bought it. The speaker in that 15 watt creature sounds ok loud but at a low levels it is very bad. That stupid speaker was their big selling point. Celestron on a big label on the front and some people think that is its MFG. I have been asked how do I like my Celestron Amp? I look at those types like they fell to earth but hit their head hard on the moon on the way. That hitting the moon is very possible. That is why I am nice and brush the star dust off the lady's.

Looks like a good score on the Fender KP!

That you! Did you jump on the 40 page band wagon in calling me a liar at your other forum? That creepy stupid German you have over can't understand that big corporations and research universities give traveling reps the companies private equipment to use. I was instructed never to use public wifi when I am working for them. If you did not attack my character forget that and welcome buddy it is great to see you again!
