I guess there are different levels and meanings to the word "Happiness" because having money and buying $hit makes me happy as can be!
Maybe I'm a "Material Boy"...hey where's Madonna?
Did you say Madonna?

Nice to have money. I have most of my life, I just worked hard and lost every one I loved. I never worked hard for the money. Money was a side effect of my labor and not knowing the value of money I never learned the cost of it and how people see you when you are making lots of money. I did research and long hours to help people. I never saw my pay because it was sent to a bank account. Money didn't matter. I think of how it hurt people that wanted to keep up with me. I never knew I was in a race, I tried to take care of the people I loved. I never wanted to buy them or buy them off so to speak. Money can only buy what people think you need and it will never buy happiness. It can sure piss all over every bit of happiness.

I firmly believe happiness is available to all regardless of $ circumstance. Yes a positive $ circumstance can help by removing one area of stress.
Years ago I learnt the way to be happy is SIMPLY to make the decision to BE happy. Sounds simplistic but once the decision is taken it works. These days when I see a bad situation I think "Is it within my ability to correct or control?" if I can GOOD, I'll act, if not GOOD accept and move on. I'm now a "the glass is half full" man not half empty.
I'm a glass half full of Scotch man.....
It is better to have than to have not, but it only solves one set of problems. I will let my friend Forest sum this up, because I feel he says it best

I remember reading about a school teacher who had won the lottery...a few million I think. All of a sudden his friends or peers at work would ask him for money or to borrow. When he was reluctant to lend out the money he found out his friends were not true friends. They've ignored him and it made him feel really depressed. When you have a sh*tload of money, people you don't know all of a sudden become your friend so they can get a slice of your pie. If you are a loner and win a lot of money you don't have to worry about friends mooching off of you.
I have a wealthy friend, $1,000,000 is small change to him.
When younger he dressed like a tramp and drove a 15 year old car. His reason was if he made a new friend he had a good idea it's him they like and not his $$$'s.
Like royalty he married into a family chosen by HIS family, but not the chosen daughter, the younger one, she's a nice lady.
