I certainly did. Three times with The Experience at the Marquee club, and once unexpectedly at my local pub where he "borrowed" Mick Taylor's Les Paul and played a set with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. Then once more in a coffee bar where he signed my new copy of All Along The Watchtower.

The former bass player from my current band lent Jimi his bass one night in London when his band were playing and Jimi wanted to play along.
Sadly he passed last year.

It’s still surprisingly raw now. I drive past his old house most days on the way to work and I still tear up, like I’m doing right now. He was a lovely man and a great musical mentor.

Blazer buddy, I really do feel ya. I still remember how it was to lose my stepdad. Unlike the mess of a man my real dad was, he brought lots of good mentoring and positive traits for a young man and our family to learn from.
