The sad thing is that both Phil and Jacks Alembic modded Guild Starfire basses
sounded better before they were "enhanced". This is not hearsay. I heard those
basses live both pre and post Alembic modification.

Just my opinion, but the mods took an otherwise cool-looking semi-hollow bass and made it look hideous.

I feel oddly justified in having never been a Dead fan.

I am curious about the thing in the middle that looks like it has copper tape on it.

based on the controls, I think that is what he is calling the "Quad". Now I need to figure out what a Quad is!

Original and unique is how I see it.........I like it for WHAT it is --- would I want to try and USE it --- ON STAGE---- in a word NO--but.....hey man its the Dead......like wow....

Oh yes.......I agree Smitty --- the BBB of Mr Lesh is the result of (IMHO) a lot of spare time and acid......I would like a hollow or semi hollow but al those options and unless your running an EIGHT PIN rig with separate pups going to different speakers and 10,000 watts of pot smoke laden cabinets with bees wax candle drippings and barefoot hippie chicks dancing in the nude........there really is NO USE for it.

Much like the stereo set up in the Billy Shehan signature bass rig.......if you HAVE 2 bass amps to run the signals to on opposite sides of the room at least 20 feet apart ----- its GREAT --- other wise its over priced ARSE>
