Peavey Invective 120

OKAY OKAY OKAY here's the latest intel on this amp and it's very disappointing.

Lots of these units are having problems, being returned, bad tube sockets and all sorts of stuff. Peavey once again is being very misleading with regard to QC and production on these amps.

They are trying to have us believe that they are being made in Meridian MI (USA) but in fact production models are coming out of Shangdong (China) and only the prototypes (seen at NAMM etc) were made in the USA.

This was posted on a Facebook Peavey forum today by a very disappointed owner. Note the grammatical subterfuge designed to lead you to believe that these are made in the USA when they really aren't.

These are expensive amps and Peavey won't be getting my money for one. My next Peavey will be an old USA made amp like a JSX , 5150, or VTM.

That's kind of embarrassing and a letdown. I'm always hoping that Peavey can resurface with high quality products that are made in the USA. Even though it will mean higher prices. Peavey should be able to compete with the likes of Friedman, Dr Z, Carr, Matchless, Rivera, Fryette, etc.

It's been about 8 years, but whatever happened to their "Custom Shop", handwired, made in USA, boo-tiki amps? There was a 50 watt, 2 channel, called the Masterpiece 50... a 20 watter called the Sensation, and a 1 1/2 watter called the Studio Special. On paper, and early reviews, were very good.
