Time for a change - VOX out

Wav, Does the Silkyn do Fender tones like he said he is looking for? Not being smartass, I just know nothing about them.

I'd have suggested Jet City's as they are nice, but think they are closer to a Marshall type tone over a Fender one.

I know that you asked Wav, but I can tell you that the clean channel is very Fender blackface era, and the dirt channel is supposed to be Marshall-based.
The amps do require some mods to get the dirt channel up to expectations. I don't even use it. The clean channel on mine is fantastic. At some point, I may try some of the mods to clean up the dirt channel circuit.

I can't honestly say because I have never played on a Fender amp. :hide:

Mmmmmm, Mesa. I love my Mesa's
The 5:25 didn't float my boat and got traded off, but my F30 and Recto-Verb 25 are well loved and cherished possessions.
I'll sell my soul before I sell either of those two.
I was trying to stay in ChasFred's budget. But yeah, the Recto-Verb 25 is killer. Used prices are still up on these. Here's one for $850, but local pickup only in Tulsa, Oklahoma:
Mesa Boogie Rectoverb25 | Luke's Gear Locker

Another vote for Mesa. Pretty much any Mesa. Lots of combo's available in the price range, different models and features, but you won't find anything more versatile or better made.

I am going to GC this weekend and see what floats my boat. The Silkyn sounds tempting, but I have read up on it and appears it needs mods to sound good.
Have another trade offer for a flavor of Marshall that is tempting but it only has 1 input, and I would prefer 2, even though that will not be a deal killer.
After all, my recording days are over (heavy sarcasm). The Mesa 's I know from experience in the past, not ruled out , just needs to be a super deal for the $$$$.

I am very interested in the Supro 1605R.

I would also look at used Deluxe Reverb Reissue. Great cleans (warm and fat), great reverb, great tremolo/vibrato.

And, as always, the best sounding amp you can buy for $500, the Silvertone 1482. It is basically a Fender Deluxe, no reverb, best tremolo/vibrato you will ever hear.

I had a DR for a very long time. I have not seen one that worked for less than 800-900 used in a very long time, even the Silvertone 1482 ( which I had in h.s.) are around 700 which is top end of my budget. I do appreciate your suggestions. This one of the things that make this forum great. The enthusiasm everyone shares with other people dreams and ambitions.

That F30 is a little optimistically priced, but it's a fine little amp.
I've had one for over 10 years and it's never let me down.
A local gigging musician whose gear I service, bought an F50 about 5 years ago, to replace an aging Hot Rod Deluxe that was plagued with service problems, other than annual tube changes the only thing I've ever had to do to his Mesa was replace the toggle switches when the amp took a roll during a bar fight. The F series are very versatile amps.

There's a little trick with the F series where you can mod a pair of 1/4" jacks and use the effects loop dial as a built in attenuator.

Oohhh Weeee!
I'm digging that Super Sonic!

I hate when my amps get all juiced up and start fights.

Well I have narrowed down to a small Marshall, and a Mesa Subway and I must say it is a tough choice. Both have pros and cons.
