Broke my Guitar Acquisition Habit:

I've been thinking a lot lately about an EDS-1275 again. Not simply to just have it, but to play it...really use it...

It's the only guitar that I think looks normally sized on me.

All the Von Herndon guitars have found homes except these three. I ended up building 25 in total - a mix of Strat and Tele shapes.

I have promised the old 1987 Squirecaster to my 9 year old as soon as he grows into it.

I have plans to sell the Gibson SG.

The Destroyer is a keepsake more or less.

The Hellraiser is that ever dependable go-to guitar that is dead quiet and has never needed modifications.

So I guess I will add one of these StageCrafters to my collection...

Playing lately....without fiddling with any guitars....just playing them. It has kind of put things back in perspective. I missed out on a lot of enjoyment chasing tone and magnet types, wire gauges and ohms ratings...silly old dude am I...

I don't wanna say we told ya so, but...!

But what I have found is that neck thickness and fretboard radius is everything to me in terms of feel...

I find that I am pretty adaptable to those factors but the thing that I am very sensitive to is string height. Can't be too high or too low, but the older I get the higher I prefer it.

I'm at .060" on all my guitars, unfretted at the 12th fret.

Y'know, I don't measure them. It's all a feel thing for me. One thing I love about Gibson bridges is the fact that it's so simple to just reach down and adjust the height while playing. Can't do it with most other guitars. Some days it goes up some days it goes down, but mostly up lately.
