My new '72 Chevelle SS 454

Bocc,

My '71 Cutlass was the exact same color as your Chevelle!

That's me behind the wheel the day I picked it up.

It was a truly enjoyable car to own and drive. And, it was actually relaxing to work on it!

Smitty, those are Bad ass cars. My bud Jess had the same exact car, but green I think. My bud Kev had a '70 GTO, and Grubby had a 70 Nova. We would line them all up on my front lawn, just to annoy certain people.

Cool car Grumpster. A Ford Capri I believe. Here in the states, they were sold as Mercury Capri.

Yes, you're correct, the Capri. They were so terrible at handling that folks used to put bags of sand over the rear wheels to add stability while turning. :alien:

Lookswise, your 72 Chevelle is much nicer. I like the colour too.

We had our own language growing up. First, we re-named everyone's cars:

El Cacheapo (El Camino)

Camarslow (Camaro)

GTslOw (GTO)

Fireturd (Firebird)

Slova (Nova)

Pontiwreck (Pontiac)

Buick Beagle

Monte's Carload (Monte Carlo)

Olds Gutless

Plymouth Belvequeer

Dodge DisCharger

And then there were all the acronyms....

MoPar (Mostly Old Parts and Rust) (My Old Plymouth Aint Runnin)

Pontiac (Poor Old Nucklehead Thiks Its A Corvette)

Chevrolet (Cracked Heads Exhaust Valves Rattle Oil Leaks Every Time)

Ford (intercourse' Okies Really Dig-Um)

And then we changed everyone of our buddies last name to 'hole' in honor of us all being assholes:

"Hey Johnhole....what's up with the air cleaner?"

"It's the latest thing, Roberthole...why do you ask???"

I miss those days sometimes....we bitched about 80 cent a gallon 93 octane leaded premium.....

I had a Monte Carload ---- with a built 454--- it hauled a SHITLoad lol

man I miss that blessed God of Acceleration -------

I am still hooked. My daily driver's are always V8 manual transmission - ive never owned a car with an automatic.

My Mustang GT is set up like a track car. Lowered with special suspension, Ford Racing Camshafts, 91 octane full-race tune and 4.30 gears, the pull is almost turbo-ish in nature.

And I still get 22-23mpg.
