SG's and Bigsby's

Ok like I have said in other post the SG has been my dream guitar . My first came with the Maestro Vibrola on it. All ways thought that looked so damn good. So I have this new SG with no tail piece, AND I have an original Gibson long vibrola. When I ordered the guitar my plan was to install this tail piece. Weellll I don't want to drill any holes in this lovely piece of wood.

I have decided to add a Bigsby B7 with the Vibramate mounting plate instead. No holes to be drilled (y) and I still get my long tail piece whammy stick. Parts were ordered today and will be here Sunday, and pics to follow as soon as assembly is completed.

Watching this video sorta pushed me over the edge for the Bigsby. This dude makes it sound so natural Johnny A just kills it.

The hinge will have to be flipped and polished to fit the B7 to an SG.
Sg's look totally bitchen with a B7

ChasFred if you need a hinge already modded & polished, PM me.
I have one ready to go.

Thanks for the heads up on the hinge. I though I had saw that once before but was not positive.

Thanks for the offer, I have FLITZ polish and a Dermal tool that I use for polishing the feed ramps on my pistolas.

I am thinking about grinding the arm stop down so I have complete arm rotation.

Triple P90's that is just too damn cool.

I almost bought the Johnny A model without the Bigsby, but it was gone when I got there with the cash. I filled my semi-hollow gas with a CS336 instead

OK I have the parts in hand, just one simple question. Does the hinge just drift out? I dont what to just in without checking with someone who has experience. This is the first B7 I have dealt with. I am using a Vibramate which has a plate for under the hinge. Will this affect things as far as needing to flip the hinge plate?

Yes, just knock it out with a thin drift punch.
Vibramate makes things better, not as much break angle over the bridge.
Loose the hinge plate. Not needed on an SG with a flipped hinge.
It's for Les Paul applications as a spacer.

I am not crazy about the casting holes showing. I may have to put it on the mill to smooth the surface.

Here it is with the TOWNER HINGE BUTTON inserted.

No its not the gold plated o

I used a belt sander with a 300 grit belt to take out the casting flash holes.
Then polish the snot out of it.

The Towner piece is icing on the cake.
I need to pick a couple of those up.

Belt sander may actually work better. Getting a solid mount in the mill may be a problem. What did you fill you nail holes with? Looks like brads.
