Still yet to have a play through it, hopefully tomorrow afternoon, but I am pretty excited about it. A friend of mine has one that has given me serious pedal envy every time he uses it. Heaps of different settings including these weird twist and warp functions. Actually my friend combines the twist with divebombs to get some pretty cool effects. The instruction manual is kind of thick

I also have an RE-20, a DD-7, and a Carbon Copy on my board so no shortage of delays here!
 
You traded something bog for something little - is that a good idea?

And, how many delays does one man need on his pedal board???
 
I use a VHT Echo/Verb pedal and its only 1 of 3 pedals i use.For what ever reason the delay seems to fattin up the tone a bit.very usefull pedal if ya ask me.

Yes, getting rid of something big that you don't use for something small that you will use is win-win!

I might get rid of the DD-7 eventually. Not saying that I wouldn't replace it with a different delay though. It's just that many of the delays on the DD-7 are the same as ones on the DD-20

I only have a delay and a reverb, but I could see a case being made for at least two delays.

If you want a delay with very precise repeats in specified subdivisions, ability to store presets, and precise timing, a good digital delay with accurate tap-tempo is pretty much essential. This is great for those U2-types of delays, such as in "Where the Streets Have No Name." On the other hand, for more indistinct, echo-y types of delays, where you're more looking for generalized repeats or spaciousness, an analog delay is great. I can set my digital delay to emulate an analog delay, but it requires moving through presets. Having both pedals allows you to quickly switch one off and the other on. I've toyed around with adding an analog delay to my board, but I'd have to add another Voodoo Labs power supply.
 
I've had a DD-20 on my board since...I can't remember...it was the first pedal I purchased after deciding to go back to pedals from a single multi-effects board.
I, recently, contemplated replacing it with a TC Flashback x4 that I bumped into, at a good price.
The DD-20 is still on my main board. I really like the Flashback x4, but the DD-20 is so reliable. It's proven to be one pedal that just takes the abuse, and does its job.

Sorry for the hijack Dave. In fact, every time I am looking up choices for complex delays, the Boss DD* comes up as a smart option. Congrats!
 
AND IT WAS CHEAP!

I traded some crap out of my drawer - hardware and pickups that I had upgraded on a couple of my SGs - for that amp that I swapped eventually for this pedal. So something unused -> something barely used -> something used all the time. I call that a win

I'm trying to get someone to buy me an EQD The Depths univibe from one of the local Cash Converters store to swap for my DD-7. If they still have it
 
Oh, by the way, the DD-20 is out of production now. Boss replaced it with the DD-500, which seems like a great pedal but costs a lot more
