It's funny how 2 weeks ago I was ready to sell this guitar because it sounded like crap compared to my Classic, but after putting a cheap $20 wiring harness in it I bought off of amazon and a couple of pickups I didn't like years ago when I bought them now the damn thing sounds better than it ever has!

I decided to keep it to convert it over to active pickups instead of buying a new guitar, but now I'm not so sure, I've been playing the hell out of it for 3 days.

Steve , I have had similar results from pickups, I didn’t like the Diamarzio 36th anniversary. I changed them in to my LP before trading it to GC. I regret that now.

Having some variety of gear gives you more tone options.
Changing things up now and then can spark creativity.
If you only have your favorite anything all the time, your favorite can start to seem like same old - same old.
That guitar has seen some changes, and having a guitar that you're not afraid to take some chances with can make a good platform for experimenting with new ideas.

This is one of the [many] reasons to experiment before jettisoning. Minus chainsaw of course.
