That's too bad. I play all mine out too. Some people are concerned about scratches etc on mint guitars. I'm not one of those. I play em like they are meant to be played live.

100% Got them to play them. I take a few nice pictures now and then. But yeah, Ive added my fair share a dings and scratches. It's the way it goes.

Here is the SG. The original chain saw case was long gone when I bought it. So were the original pickups. Over the years I have has 3 of these. I bought one when they first came out in 1986.

You likely saw but I just got to gig my newly acquired 1953 LP last weekend. Loved it! It has seen 70 years of playing....

I thought about it. But I was gifted( early inheritance) and it reminds me of my old friend. I don't want change it. I like the way it sounds. A refin could change that.

Now if I did a re-finish it would be in black. Maybe even add a middle pickup. I always wanted a 3 pickup custom. For now
I would just be better off buying one.

Looks to me like someone put on the polish and forgot about it. I can see it if it was left on overnight, doesn’t even look like it was spread out well and was puddling in some places. I too would strip / stain & clear coat that baby.

A second guitar was polished at the same time.
A late 70s USA Martin EM18 electric. I know polish was not left on overnight on both guitars.

I think the Martin had different lacquer. Same brown haze. I was able to clean that one off for my friend. It did not sink
into the finish. I think the custom sat on a stand for most of that time. They were heavy smokers to boot.

He told me he used Gibson polish. The kind that used to come in an aerosol spray can. One from the 1970s.
So a 40 year old can.

I don't know if that could have caused the damage, but I think the polish/nightmare
was done with the stings off. The worst is behind the stop tail. I think he started there, went along the pickups and between them.
That's were its the worst. The lower horn and under the pick guard were not affected. Some parts of the neck are good as well.
