That street looks familiar. Is this across the Seine River from Notre Dame where all the restaurants are?

I'm not sure if the location is what you're thinking of, but yes there are a batch of restaurants there. We ate our Thanksgiving dinner at the one just on the left with the US flag, it's actually a BBQ restaurant but they were running a special with turkey, dressing, mash potatoes, etc., for anyone wanting a traditional American Thanksgiving dinner. And to our surprise it was excellent. We had arranged to meet a fellow American there on business, through a fb group on tourism in France, so he wouldn't have to eat Thanksgiving dinner alone, and there were a couple other Americans there for Thanksgiving, so we all ate together.
The restaurant is called Rosie's Smokehouse, the address is
13 Rue de la Huchette, 75005 Paris, France.

Until like 3 years ago, I had never been to the European mainland. Our honeymoon in'87 was to London (with a day trip up to York), and in the early '90s we went to Ireland with my folks. But after that came kids and we stuck to regional travel (which was still pretty cool since we are in Florida, and all the countries in the Caribbean (except Cuba) were options), so we did some cruises instead, and more recently visited our friends who live in Puerto Rico.
We're both still working but inching towards retirement, so it's a good time to travel while we still have a bit more income. We REALLY love Paris, heard all the negative stereotypes, but the only ones proved true were those about "Ugly Americans." i guess it helps that my high school French is back to being fairly passable (after downloading the DuoLingo app, haha). As you know, even just saying "Bonjour" on entering a shop will get you pretty far.
It's amazing to me how lazy and entitled Americans abroad can be. My wife speaks fluent Spanish, so I always take it on myself to learn at least a few sentences and phrases for trips outside Spain (which we have not been to yet). We've been to Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands so far! This Fall the plan is for Austria, so I need to brush up on my German.
