Hit and Run Driver Nailed Me

Last year a drunk driver was speeding through a red light, totaled my car and sent me to the trauma center. I've been going to physical therapy for over a year now, court case pending. Insurance covered 75% of a replacement vehicle.

Yesterday on my way home from work, a Mini merged into my lane causing a lot of cosmetic damage to my new car. Both of us pulled over and when I asked to exchange info, he got in his car and drove off. I caught it on my rear window cam.

Police report filed, insurance company notified. I was able to get a picture of his temporary rear plate .

Years ago I had someone rear end me on a very busy road in rush hour. Dude was obviously texting/playing with his phone.
Pulled over, got out and asked him for his info. No deal.
Jerk...
I asked again and told him it was required. Nope.
OK, so I took multiple pictures of him, the car, the license plate, the traffic etc.
Then he drove away.
Turned out OK. They called it 100% his fault (DUH!).
Dude was an insolent young a$$hat who didn't want to take any responsibility.

I took my car to a body shop that my friend owns and he said he can replace all of the black plastic trim around the wheels wells and buff out the places on the paint where I thought was damaged, but is just residue from his plastic bumper. My total cost will be $263 parts and labor. I have $500 deductible on my insurance, so this is a way better deal for me. The owner of the shop and I used to work at a BMW & Maserati dealership and were pretty good friends. We used to go 4x4ing in Azusa canyon back in the day. So he is cutting me a really sweet deal.
