More Cowbell...

Blondie and Cyndi Lauper - I seemed to like their style/music. I did se Lauper in concert one - it was a great show - she didn't even look real, looked like a living china doll or something.
Debbie Harry was that way too. I first ran into her at Max's Kansas City, Summer 1973. I was underage, moving equipment for a band called Legs Latreau. Will never forget wrestling a Hammond B3 up that endless staircase with just one other guy. Anyway all kinds of cool NYC people were there for the show later that night, artists, musicians, writers, models, Warhol and his entourage. And me, a wide-eyed hopelessly uncool sixteen-year-old from Jersey. Carrying drinks to the stage I bumped into somebody in the crowd; turned around and there was this supernaturally beautiful face looking up at me - like a living doll, an angel even. Never spoke a word to her, or she to me. But in a room full of beautiful people, she was otherworldly.

Very cool memory, man...
