EH Hum Debugger

The new old Goldie as iy has P90s hums like a bugger. It works to use a noise gate but they are a compromise. I read about the Hum Debugger and thought I would give it a whirl.
The footprint is larger than I would like and it uses a proprietary 7.5 V adapter (booourns) but MAN does it work! At low volumes I heard no discernable tone difference and even on the normal setting hum is just gone. Might work well for other gits in places that get 60Hz hum
Highly recommended.
I am trying the 53 at rehearsal again Sat and will hook up the Debugger too.
Fun 5imes.

I have one. If you don’t hear it, it works fantastically. If you hear it, it may change your mind.
The power supply thing sux though…

I'm wondering if that old guitar might have a ground issue or something that's making it worse than it should be for you. :hmmm:
No not a ground issue there is a connected ground wire from pots to trapeze tailpiece, all looks good inside It's not a ground hum sound to me. Maybe a 1950s P90 is likely more hummy than a current one? It is 70 years old... the debugger completely does it. If I had a Strat with noisy PUps it would work for that too.

It was just a thought. I've seen too many guys rocking p90s in higher gain situations and even done it myself. I just have a hard time believing that it's not something due to age of the component/wiring and/or the pickups themselves.

Yeah I have seen that too. But are they using gates or dehummers? I dunno. I mean, as you are playing you can't really hear it but stop playing and there it is. I would rather nip it in the bud. Seems to work better than a noise gate which I have as well.
