New Family Photo

Love these shots, thanks for doing all the hauling and dusting and setting up.
A good collection is something to be proud of.

Mine's back up to eight now. Here's seven of 'em...
not including the new used bass I just finished rebuilding.

So at present I have four electrics, two basses and two acoustics. I'm happy with these and am
really not looking for anything else. At my age, it's time to simplify everything and reduce how much
stuff I have around. I might sell my Tele and my Silverburst SG this year. I might NOT!

I was gonna just show you the cases...

Thanks, yeah, the collage idea is so much more practical than hauling everything out and taking a shot of a physical grouping. I've done that too, but in my case that's an all-day project.

The last time I managed was 2022, so I'm due for another "driveway shot" soon. Although the stable is about 90% the same, maybe 95%, there are a few changes. We're about to take off for a long Spring Break vacay (3/15-4/3), but when we get back I'll have to find a weekend with good weather and do it all again.

Wish you were my neighbor ! Nice !!

Got lucky here, my neighbors enjoy the band plus they like to crank their car systems & the bass shakes my house. Mutual respect for loud music !!:acoustic:
The neighbors who are closest to the garage (seen in the background of the "driveway" shots) are cool AF. We love them, they've said the music is no prob. As you can see by the photo, we didn't practice in the evenings, nor early mornings. We focused on afternoons and "pre-venings" where the noise would bother the fewest neighbors. That call in the photo was mid-afternoon. It was baking outside, and we left the garage door half-open so we wouldn't die.

I've lived in this house since 1993. The cops have shown up exactly... twice. We mainly used the garage for practices in the later '90s, after that I moved practices to the law library at my office, which was a perfect set up. The law library had A/C, and bathrooms and a fridge and microwave in a kitchen down the hall. Obviously, we practiced in the evenings, after hours. In addition to everything else, it was basically soundproof. An interior room surrounded by a hallway, with offices on the "outside" edge of the hallway. Both my main band and a side band (the lead singer was one of my law partners) practiced there. One weekend, c. 2012, I came into the office and did a precursor to the "driveway" family shot, in the library:

The firm dissolved and wound up its affairs at the end of 2012, and all my gear (most of which I had stored in my individual office, which was a hilarious mess) had to come home to Casa Krashpad. For several years, the main band practiced in my garage, which is when that cop photo was taken. However, then our former drummer rejoined, and since about 2023 (we took a long hiatus due to covid) we've rehearsed at his house. He has a "man cave" shed, and it's even better than the library was, because in addition to being soundproofed, he has his recording gear there (there's a separate control room), AND enough backline so that the guitarists don't need to bring amps to rehearse. For practices we can just "plug and play." Truly an embarrassment of riches. Here's a shot of his man cave, in a slightly earlier configuration than is current:
