What Are You Doing Right Now?

We’ll start driving again shortly.
I wouldn’t bother just yet. They’re not able to keep up here…I just heard, on the local news, that 495 is empty…for good reason.
To be fair, after waking up around 4am, I slept in…and am working on my first coffee.
I woke to no power or internet, but the power came on by the time I made it to the kitchen. The internet came back a few minutes ago.
I’d hang in there for lunch at least…if not dinner….unless you’ve rented a deuce and a half.

It stopped snowing here. Just a few flakes. We’re about to shovel out the car. It looks like slow going on the Garden State Pkwy, but once we’re parallel to NYC, it opens up. It’s still looking like a seven hour drive. Hopefully when we get to Logan airport to drop off the rental and grab my car, there’s no storm surge. If there is, we won’t be able to get to the Chelsea employee garage.

Have a friend that checked in with cousins in New Jersey. Was told they pulled the snow plows off the roads. Couldn’t keep up and not safe to continue.

I am having some difficulty with opening a door to the outside here. All of my windows are pasted with snow, except two. One is mostly blocked by a 5 foot plus drift(up to my eyes, and I’m 6’1”) that peaks about two feet away from the door. The other is one of the upper portions of a window on the main floor that has had some of the paste coating fall away.
No way to tell just how much has fallen, as the drifting is kinda crazy. I see spots that look like a foot deep(in front of my garage), and areas that look more like two additional feet. It is gonna be a fun evening of shoveling…if I can shove the door open a few more inches, so I can fit through, the fun will commence.
I just saw reports of 30-40” in a couple of spots to the south and west of me.

Well…that was a cluster-f.
Some “well meaning” plow driver attempted to plow my not so plowable driveway, and made an already epic pile of work muuuuuuuuuuuuch worse. Without my asking, or soliciting his “services”.
He blew reverse in his trucks transmission.
I was trying to push my door open, stuck my head out, and there he is…trying to figure out what to do.
I asked him what he was doing here…I have a snowblower, and never have anyone plow…because(as he learned) it can’t be done…the driveway is too short. Lucky he didn’t wreck my garage.

…and now the authorities have declared a travel ban for my area. I hope @SG John is not coming up 95, because it’s pretty bad from reporting on the local news. Stranded cars on highways etc.
Best to approach from the west…like I 90.
We just picked up my car at the employee garage and dropped off the rental. The roads are yucky, but it’s no longer snowing on the north shore. Should be home in home in a half hour as long as there are no morons on the road. They seem to be out there.

Glad you made it. I got to spend a couple of hours watching the clown show on my street(I live on a main road). Plows running off the road(trying to avoid the loonies in their suvs) and getting stuck…tow trucks that couldn’t get them out.

Well I succeeded in getting my little orange truck snow plow high centered on a snow berm plowing the driveway today. So I fired up the 4WD Jeep Grand Cherokee to pull it off. I was successful in getting that stuck too. Gonna have some 60 degree days coming up to help melt this crap.

Got home. It’s still snowing here. It looks like they hadn’t plowed my street in hours. We were warned that there were a bunch of cars buried and blocking access to the other end of my street. It was a challenge getting in my driveway. Fortunately my neighbor did my driveway entrance and sidewalk with his snowblower before we got home. He’s saved my butt this winter. He knows I was on the road too much last fall to be sure my snowblower actually still works, which it doesn’t.
