This cab was recommended to me, but they don't make them anymore so I've been looking for a good deal on a used one. I finally found one the other day and placed my order. It arrived to day and I'm really impressed with it. It's an Eminence 112. Fit's the look I was going for with my Origin and it's much easier to handle than the EVH212 I've been using as a 112. It's made of 3/4" ply, built like a tank! It has a removable grill and the speaker mounts to the front of the baffle making speaker swaps super easy. So far every speaker I've tried in it sounds good, including the Celestion F12-150 Triple cone speaker that came in it even though the cab was listed as empty.

I've been thru several 112 cabs in recent years and this one is by far the best I've had, very happy with it so far!

The best thing about this cab is my Creamback 65 sounds great in it, better than ever in fact. I've really missed that speaker, it sounded like crap in my EVH cab. Now I definitely need a second one for my Jensen Nighthawk.

When I finished the last amp, I tried playing it through my combo cabs and both extension cabs. When I played it through the cheap Seismic cab, it was like "hot damn" that sounds good. So I pulled the back off of it and sure enough I had stuffed that NightHawk speaker in there, the one that went to all the amp shows with me. I pulled it and put it into a Mojotone lite cabinet and it wasn;t as impressive, go figure.

It's funny/frustrating how a speaker can sound so different depending on what cab you put it in.

There are so many variables in the signal chain between you and the grill cloth.
I think I've tried just about every one of my speakers in every one of my cabs to find combinations that work best for what I want with what I have.
I'm fairly happy with the amps, cabs, and guitars I have, but the speaker and pedal quest may never end...

Changing anything can change everything. :hmmm:

Something that's really cool about this cab is being able to compare a speaker with or without the grill cloth. The Creamback is the only one I've tested this way (because I didn't think of it at first) and it sounds better without the grill cloth covering it. It's making me consider one of those metal grills over the speaker instead like I did on my little make shift 110 conversion cab. I'm not sure if it will work on a front mounted speaker though.

Grill cloth can make a difference.
A heavy, tight basketweave or pinstripe will dampen treble more than somweave or large check.
You might be hearing a less diffused pressure wave without any grill at the lower volumes you prefer.

And paper vs. plastic doesn't just apply to the grocery store check out.
Do you know what the grill material is on the Eminence cab?

Haha, no! All I can tell you is it's black and it's not as "see thru" as the cloth on my EVH cab, but you can see the cork gasket on my Creamback thru it, which I'm going to have to do something about before @Thatbastarddon calls me on it.

That looks like a fairly tight weave, even if you can see through it a bit.
Shiny also makes me think it may be synthetic.
A re-grill with some paper cloth like Marshall somweave might make a noticeable difference.

Hmm, this is something new to me, I've never given much thought to grill cloth except for looks. I do own a staple gun. :hmmm:
