I have Fender, I have had Snark, plus D'Addario tuning clips, best clip for me has been my T.C Polytune. Its accurate, battery life is very good. I've had it a year and a half, its been great, just changed the battery a month ago, it still was working, but decided to change it anyway. You can see this thing in sunlight as well, i play outside frequently in the spring and summer.

As a matter of fact, I was at my local hobby shop trying out a guitar today, guy started talking to me about tuners, he had a snark and some other brand, so he asked what i was using, I take mine with me when i try out guitars. Showed him explained about it. He left the shop with a new one.

I agree with not clipping the strings, looks geeky, also i don't like seeing clip on tuners, where they leave them attached to the headstock at all times either. I use mine for tuning purposes only, then it is removed, same with a capo, I use it to play whatever song I am playing at that time then is removed. These are the proper way's to use these devices, as far as I am concerned.

I have a couple of Snarks, and mini D'Addario clip-ons, but I mainly use these Fender rechargeable ones.
They work fine for my needs. Nice bright easy to see display, and no batteries to fuss with having to keep spares for.
Just plug them into a USB every now and then - good for months on a charge.

Your methods meet my approval..... not that you needed my approval or anything. :pound-hand:

May be my form of OCD. Some might call it anal. But I don’t clip things on the headstock. Not tuners. Not capos. Ranks up with players that don’t clip the strings after putting new ones on.

I learned a long time ago not to have anything touch the guitar that isn't absolutely necessary, because I learned to play on Gibsons and it's too easy to burn the nitro finish.

I have heard of that happening. Only guitar I'm truly fussy about anything is my 50 year old Ovation. Pretty protective of that one. Not to the point of never playing it. It was the guitar that went to church with me. Will let anyone play it that asks. For me, it's just about the aesthetics. I don't put stickers on my cars either. Or if I do, they go under the closed hood. And it's not one of those "get off my lawn" old man deals..... been this way forever.

I think my wife is the same way to a point. I wanted to do a Flame Job on our Kitchen Aide Mixer. I got an absolutely not in response. :pound-hand:

Found out the hard way when a strap I had burned the finish. I have also had cables burn the finish when looping them through the strap.

I have a Polytune clip and it's great. Reads clean and it's been reliable for years.
I tune string by string though, don't use the all-at-once function.
I also don't ever leave it on the headstock. Just can't do that.

I got one on sale a while back. Mainly use it on the bench; much better than the other clip on types I have or had.
It shuts off too quickly though..

I use the pedal version. Very happy with it.
Well, I use when it I play which has not been consistent for quite some time, sadly.

Trying to get back to it though.

Meh.
My clip on of choice is the Snark Air, low profile, rechargeable, very bright. The d’addario is annoying , it takes a while for it to pick up the low E string (on electric guitar ) and half the time it calls it A.
I have a Korg Pitchblack pedal which I use when I change string adjust intonation and do a setup, etc. I use the Korg and put 3 clipons Snark air, d’addario and regular snark they all give me the same readings, so….
