Been reference mixing all week. Listening to Metallica Black Album under all these mix modes is really well recorded. Noticing something, tho, am i too lifted in the mid range and seem to have a lot of natural presence with the Marshalls,
Back then. where we always jacking up our EQ more on home stereos & in the cars? Where recordings darker a bit than modern music these days !
A theme am coming across using mixing references, they are darker than what comes out my recordings naturally with out EQ'ing

One of my favourite Vancouver bands from the 80s. The song is about them being cut from their record company. Doug Bennett the band leader passed away in 2004 after a long illness.
