Awesome @Mouse still not sure if @PLX is dumping out, or not.
My esteemed brothers.
I went into Suno this morning. An original song as a demo, to show you all what's actually what, since the other guy will only tell, and not show.
I spent about a 35 minutes mostly to repair links and some reaper file garbage in the bg, render a {no vox} version of my tune to upload to give Suno a taste.
Then had to go back and trim it down to <1:00 That's all you can give it. Plus, I also had to type out the lyrics to cut 'n paste them into Suno for the "vocalist"
Just a real, true and quick example of how it happens.
First though, a completed production version of my BIG BOSS original from RiffMasters (warts 'n all),
Please don't get distracted by the video, listen to the audio, for only as long as you can bear).
I gave Suno a 50 second audio clip, my cut + paste lyrics, and some rough instructions as a general creative guide. "Driving country rock feel, confident deep male voice with swagger." Plus the exact text below, pasted into the Lyric box
10 seconds later it gave me back four versions, the two full versions below, plus two extra 1:00 previews that abruptly cut off,.an obvious attempt to try to sell me paid membership. This is the FREE version.
Suno version #1
Suno version #2
Big Boss
[Spoken word Intro, shouted] IT’S TIME TO GO TO WORK BOYS!
V1
Wake up in the morning, feeling pretty nice, Honey’s in the kitchen ‘cause I treated her right
Just like a big boss
She’s a smoke show, long, long legs, can’t stay away from her bacon and eggs
She calls me big boss
[Chorus]
Hell Yeah
You know it
I told ya!
Lookie here
[V2]
Climb into my ride, tall dark and heavy Duramax pro, she’s a frickin’ diesel chevy
You know how it goes, ride like a big boss!
Slow roll the job site, all hands on deck, crew busts ass or they don’t get checks
Cause I’m the big boss, yeah the Big Boss
[Chorus]
Hell Yeah
I tell you what
Listen here now, hand me that microphone!
[RAP section]
Look you in the eye, got big, big swagger. I’m super hard core, no lolly gagger
Raised up texas, conquered Alabama. Straight up Crew cut tail gate slammer
Don’t be messin’ … full respect. Tree trunk arms get you wrecked
Ladies dream on getting a chance I ain’t got time for bad romance
[Spoken] That’s just not how the big bosses work, gotta keep it clean
Like a big boss
[Verse 3]
All you greenhorns trying to work harder, I’m three steps ahead, ‘cause I work smarter
Like a Big Boss
I’m a decent man, as far as I can tell and when I die, I’ll prolly run hell
Just like a big boss
[Guitar solo]
[EXTRO] Like a big boss, Like a big boss, Like a big boss, Like a big boss
Now none of the versions are perfect or even really that close, and I didn't spend ANY time trying to remix or edit. You can do some small things with the free version). I believe the paid version allows downloaded stems such as guitar/vocals drums separated so you can REALLY play with it if you wish. One of the 1:00 Pro level teaser versions seemed REALLY nice, and even having more detailed abilities to edit does seems worth the cost. You can also do re-masters with the free version
Admittedly, Suno's output is quite different from what I sent, in mostly good ways. Listening back, especially the first time, does spark joy. Plus this was my first ever try at uploading audio.
I think what I gave it was quite a bit too complex, but it "sort" of did get what I was getting at, and made it "slap" quite a bit better, as the kids say. Certainly no masterpieces, but still... for just a small effort?
Anyone says they CAN'T have a little forum fun with this without getting all serious about it? You gotta to be a REAL stick in the mud, and AI is definitely NOT for you.
You'd totally be better working from scratch, toiling into the wee hourss in your studio retaking takes, trying to line up notes, tweaking vocals to not sound like dung, adding /dialing in effects and mix-mastering 'til you achieve your preferred sonic nirvana / perfection.
And, when you do, I still can't wait to hear it.
