Alnico Cream 90 vs. Creamback 65

One thing though, not a big deal, but I had to jack the mids up on the eq, it's really scooped compared to the M65s and the Cream 90s.
I'm usually boosting mids with an EQ in the loop on most of my amps at the volumes I normally play at.
Different amps, speakers, cabs, pedals, etc.
Might be a Fletcher–Munson thing?

I need to put an eq in the loop or go back to the Haunting Mids. I was using my HM in the loop, but when I start back swapping speakers all those extra cables were a PITA so I took it out. There's got to be a better way, I hate all the extra cables just to put "a" pedal in the loop.

Since this thread is already derailed anyway... BTW this is all @fitz fault!! Since I was so surprised yesterday with the Creamback 75, I had to try onother. I don't even know if I should tell you. :ohno: No, no I'm not going to tell you. Y'all probably think I'm crazy.

Ok, I'll tell you. It's the Jensen Nighthawk. I think it sounds better than all of them. :rolf:I want to compare it directly with the Cream 90 since I still think those sounded best before, but I think it's going to be hard to beat. Right now I've compared directly with the Creamback 75 and it sound's better by far.

I like some of the sound samples on their site.
It was my main speaker for a long time and I loved it, but when I got my SC20 I didn't like it with that amp and put it aside. I've tried it a few times since then, but usually in a pair with something else and I learned that I don't like mixing speakers. I tried it several times in my Mojotone cab with the different amps I've been thru, even my current Origin, but that was a weird cab, it made good speakers sound fizzy and bright, which is why I got rid of it. I wanted to try it again in my EVH cab by itself because I hadn't done that since I put the KT66s in my Origin, maybe not ever with my Origin, I really can't remember. Anyway, today when I tried it it sounded like I remember it sounding for all those years, maybe even better.

It's a great speaker for just about anything.

So, what I think you're trying to say is...
You need another one for a pair in the 212?

"IF" I do settle on the Nighthawk I'll definitely need another. It's a quiet speaker. I had to flip one of the switches off on my attenuater to get it up to tv volume. It's 98.9db, but it's quieter than my Creamback 65 at 97db. 2 of them running at 8 ohms will probably be better.

Did you try the ET65 in the new cab?
I don't have a new cab, just my EVH 212. I added a second jack to hook up each speaker separately and I've been just running one speaker at a time in it until I hooked up both of my Cream 90s the other day. I did it to run 2 amps to the same cab in stereo and it works great as long as 2 of the same speaker are in it, but it's also turned out to be a great way to compare 2 different speakers on the fly in the same cab while I still remember what the last one sounded like.

Anyway, yes I have tried the ET65 in it and it's good, but I want to get a 112 cab specifically for it....that's what one of the 112 cabs I said I need will be for.
