Here we go again, up and down.

A simple solution to the mystery of the non posting noobs…the first post of their welcome thread has a clickable link to pop up their profile…

You can clearly see when they joined, and when they were last seen. This one came back to lounge around a few hours after signing up. This one is probably a human. This one signed up, stayed for a few minutes, logged out, and came back for more.
Sometimes the welcome thread thing will entice them to engage.
In my humble experience, nothing beats a good old fashioned Van Halen I tone chasing thread to plow teh engagement farm.

I mean.. it's The Tone Rooms, after all.

All I was saying is I've been on several forums over the years and this is the only one that automatically generates a welcome thread for new members. Everywhere else has a introductions section where new member can introduce themselves if they want to. It's just that we see these welcome threads daily for people that never even post. It just seems silly to me, but I guess it's just me.
I understand your frustration, but The Welcome thread is the one feature here at TTR that sets TTR apart from other forums.

In other words.
You register, your registration is immediately acknowledged. New members should respond accordingly. Some do respond, most don't respond to the welcome they receive after taking the time to register. It's a complete mystery to me to be as to why they don't respond, but nonetheless, new members should be greeted and welcomed to TTR. If, after a certain amount of time has elapsed of non posting....flush 'em.

I run a small Corvette site with about 30 active members. I put a sticky “Attention new members” post in the BS area that says welcome, please post at least a Hello thread within 5 days. Otherwise we’ll delete your account. I think it’s creepy that someone would sign up and not post. I usually purge them once a month.

Yes, I check that, that's how I know they haven't posted anywhere.

Yep it's a @syscokid thread…

It’s a darned good one too.
Lots of pic’s, and a PDF file for the plans.
I can see someone searching for a DIY solution that comes across that thread, and signs up to view the full rez pic’s and PDF.

Thanks for linking the thread. Just saved the pdf and JPGs.

All day yesterday and this morning the membership number was holding steady at 630 members. It’s back down to 629. And yes, I'm aware that non posters get the boot after a certain period of time has elapsed.
How much time is allowed before they get the boot?

I'm really looking forward to welcoming member #666 in the future.
If a new member does not post anything after 365 days, they get banished into the cornfield.

So y'all know that every welcome post and every birthday thread adds to my post count. I have added a plug-in designed by one of our members/admin that will automatically delete no posters after 1 year of no posts. I'm a lazy admin. Build my post count and delete nonposters. Welcome thread and birthday threads also autogenerated. I let the bot scripts do all the work for me.
