Not me. Got my first TS9 in 1981, probably within the first month they were released, and it still reigns as the best OD I have ever used, I put it in front of every amp and even when not engaged the buffer makes everything better. Had a Klon, sold a Klon, found it really boring and flat sounding (and the Archer was better). TETO

gball, my TS9 stopped working, and through the awesome brotherhood that is TTR, sysco offered to fix it for me and mail it back. What a blessing to have had it in such capable and generous hands.

Not strike as in strike out , strike as is between the hammer and the anvil.
Marshall’ new modded amp introduced at namm 2025.
For this demo:
The cleans were good, that's typical of a plexi which has a clean preamp.
but, the amp sounded pretty weak without the FX pedal. Not very impressive at all.
I don't see what's so great about the modification.

I judge the sound of an amplifier without effects pedals. If the amp doesn't sound good by itself, I'm not too thrilled by it.

The sound of the plexi comes from overdriving the power amp, and in this test the volume was way too low to get a good sound.

100w is always (mostly) overkill but I know you can’t get that tone with out the bigger transformers. Schenker for example uses 50w heads. However in the bedroom it could work but not for space.

Eddie said in the studio straight into the amp my guess his home studio
Ed was so full of himself. His rig changed a lot over the years. When he started playing no one ever heard of Billy Corgan.
The first rig was different. The first album tone was his signature tone imho. Then there was the EVH amp 5150

Anyway, I don’t think Marshall built the amp to get EVH tones. It would be more of George Lynch . That’s a whole other story.

Here is a story about the 5150 that includes what I already know.
“First in 1978 with his stock 100-watt 1968 Marshall Super Lead — with the help of a Variac — he created a never-before-heard searing, aggressive tone that sent a generation of guitarists and amp builders on the hunt to capture his elusive "brown sound."

Then in 1992, Van Halen shocked the world with his own signature amp, the Peavey 5150. Instead of simply cloning his original Marshall tones, Van Halen forged a new path, designing an amp with even more aggressive sounds, capable of extreme tones that quickly made it the de facto amp for metal guitarists looking to inflict maximum sonic punishment.”

Yes, he did have a home studio but that was probably many years after the brown sound Marshall. He moved on in tone.
I played one of the later designed EVH 40w Iconic amps and despite the internet negativity about these amps, I really like the tone and feel. It can do it all. imho
