I've told customers "If you knew how to properly quote jobs, you'd have left yourself time and money for preventive maintenance." For some reason, they were not happy with my comments.

Reminds of a car thread on my corvette forum many years ago. We have guys in their 80s and 90s. We were discussing owners manuals and one of the orders guys posts:

Owners manuals from the 30s, 40s, and 50s had instructions on how to set the points, ignition timing and valve lash. New car manuals have a warning about don’t drink the battery acid.
