My Old Recordings

Very nice. I know all those places well. I'm a north shore boy in the witch city these days, but have lived in Rumford, RI and Bellows Falls, VT. I know all those places mentioned very well. Are you still in Westerly? When I work down in the Taunton area, thatbastarddon and I will get together for an evening of pizza, beer, hockey, or whatever else sounds like a good idea at the time.

Thanks for listening! I appreciate it.
I was born, raised, and lived in Westerly until 1980. I relocated to a town in North Central Connecticut, halfway between Hartford CT and Springfield MA. Actually, when I was a kid, I grew up in Weekapaug, which was a suburb of Westerly. Misquamicut beach area.

Are you familiar with that area?

My sister's still live there.

Patty‘s Wig Wam used to be at Misquamicut Beach. They hosted great punk shows. I used to always go to Lupo‘s in Providence. Don’t get to RI much these days, although I was working in Cranston for a couple of weeks at the first of the year.

I used to work for a company whose New England office was based in Windsor Locks. I was often in that area as well as Chicopee, Springfield, and Westfield. I miss working in that area. I have always enjoyed being in Chicopee, Northhampton, or down in the Wallingford, CT area. I’m due for another road trip to the Munich Haus, as there are no German restaurants in the northeast part of the state. It’s Maibock season, and they are one of the few places with a nice selection.

Sorry John , to correct you, but the correct spelling is Paddy's Wig Wam. Across the street was the Island House (no longer in existence). The Andrea Hotel (adjacent to Paddys) was completely destroyed by a hurricane a few years ago.

You're younger than I am. You probably don't remember the Windjammer or The Blue Sands.

This isn't Rock, Blues, or Heavy Metal music.
The simple truth of the matter is that the majority of my old recordings vary wildly, and at times require someone (other than myself) to place a label on what they're hearing.

I'm hoping that my friend @frostyjr2 will be able to label it....close to jazz, but not close enuff.

Here's another recording dating back to 2004, the origins of which were actually two acoustic guitar compositions (1988) that I combined together into a single track. In 2004, I recorded a secondary acoustic guitar track. And then, three good friends added their talents to bring it all together.

Randy Cline - Acoustic Guitars
Mick Marien (Victorville, CA) - Electric Guitar & Percussion
Chuck Weeks (Sacramento, CA - Bass Guitar
Ron Lefkowitz (Memphis, TN) - Keyboards

I truly appreciate it.

I intended to wait a week before posting another song, but why wait?

There's usually a back story to every song ever written.

Here is the back story of "Winter".

Nearly 20 years, I recorded a bass track and piano track. I invited a drummer from Washington, DC, a female lyricist/singer from Missouri, a guitar player from the U.S., a guitar player from Australia, and a female guitar player from Canada to provide 3 guitar solos within that song project (Sail Away).

Shortly, thereafter, I was on the phone talking with the female Canadian guitar player. She told me how much she and her partner enjoyed being trapped and snowbound for a couple of months or longer together. At first I thought she was nuts, but within a week I understood her contentness, and I recorded guitar tracks, piano, keyboards, wrote the lyrics and sang. I passed it forward to Phil Traynor for bass, additional keyboards and drums.

I'm very much aware of the strong leaning towards heavy metal here at TTR and the refusal to listen to anything else.

To that end, do me a favor, headbangers and give it a listen to. At the 3:17 mark, there's a guitar solo performance by a Canadian drummer/guitarist whose name I'm not at liberty to mention.

If it's not your cup of tea, that's okay.

Do me a second favor. Let your wife, girlfriend, or significant other listen to it and read the lyrics.
Women like love songs.

WINTER

Another winter bears down on me
Snow flies as far as my eyes see
Here at home wrapped in your arms
I feel safe and warm
Wish it were winter all year long

Candlelight, carrafe of wine for two
Moonlight through the skylight glows on you
I lose myself within your arms
Winters wind brings no harm
Wish it were winter all year long

Two hearts beat as one
Two souls live as one
But here at home wrapped in your arms
I feel safe and warm
Wish it were winter all year long

Another winter bears down on me
Snow flies as far as my eyes see
I'm here at home wrapped in your arms
I wish it were winter all year long
