Actually new amp and cab, belated. I had to be sure before I stuck my foot in my mouth again. The EVH 5150 Stealth I bought didn't work out. It was too high gain, too modern, too compressed or something, I just couldn't gel with it. To make a long story short skipping what led to it, I ended up finding this used Ceriatone King Kong on Reverb and snatched it up. It was built by Ceriatone (not a kit) in 2018. It's a Hot Rod Plexi with 2 Channels than goes from a basic hot rod plexi on Channel one to ballz out old school metal on channel 2 with tons of tone shaping switchable options. It has amazing clean tones should I ever need them, and all the gain I could ever want, but in an old school Marshall way. It's the amp I've been looking for!

I also sold my Mojotone 212 cab and replaced it with an EVH 212 cab that sounds way better than the Mojotone cab with my Creamback 65s. I took the EVH logos off and now it looks like it was made to match. I'm in tone heaven with this new setup.

I tried to get good clear pics, I even used a tripod, but this is the best I could do. (click on pics for full size and blurry)

It came with gold tip knobs that I couldn't see where they were set because of the glare so I replaced them with black knobs with white markers...much better.

Some gut shots, it's a work of art inside..

Here's a screenshot of the description from Ceriatone. It has a ton of switching options that all work together to shape the overall tone.

Wow!!! That looks fantastic, inside and out! Congratulations! Perhaps a clip someday?…no pressure…I know it’s not everyone’s idea of fun ;) ..But I’m betting that thing sounds amazeballs!
I don't know about that, we'll see...maybe someday.

Here's a vid of a guy going through all of the switching options, he shows that pretty well. It just irks me that every time he flips the ERA switches to add gain he turns down the gains. He never really shows what it can do with high gain. Plus he's playing a Tele to demo a high gain amp.

I can't stand useless reviews! Think about the demographic first.

Don’t know your setup and technique, but when I’m trying to shoot pics indoors with indoor lighting, and I want to capture a wide field in focus, I try to set the tripod mounted camera with the smallest aperture possible. The downside is the exposure time will be extended, but using my camera’s timer delayed shoot function will allow the camera to calm down or stop shaking before the camera automatically takes a shot. A remote button would work just like a timer delayed setup too.

Congrats on finding a killer amp that works for you. I would love to hear one of these Ceriatone’s in person. The Ceriatone crew sure does make their amps look pretty inside.

Keep an eye on those “Holy Grail” filter caps as they age. Lots of rampant rumors of those caps being described as poor quality. I usually take those types of rumors with a grain of salt, but more recently I’ve noticed at least two different forum threads where there are pics posted that show these caps bulging and leaking even though the amps were still relatively new.

Seriously? Should I change them out?

Anybody like KT77s?

For various reasons I've never really gotten along with EL34s and this amp is no exception. I removed them and put in some 6CA7s yesterday and I like them much better. I just ordered a set of KT77s to try those, I've never tried them before, but I read good thing about them and want to see for myself.

I like KT77's in my Origin50H better than 6CA7's.
I also tried them in a DSL20H for a while, but liked the 6CA7's better with that amp.
Not a fan of EL34's either - not a tinnitus issue, I just don't like the tone.

The 77's have a stronger low end and still stay tight without getting flubby.
They might be good in the KK for some high gain with a little thump at lower volumes.
