Three Humbucker Guitar Questions

One thing that I didn’t mention before and that is maybe clouding the issue a bit is that the Lil 59 and Red Devil are both single coil sized humbuckers. I haven’t measured the inductance of either, but i suspect they are likely lower than that of full sized humbuckers.
I pulled the resistance chart from Seymour Duncan in my early post and I kinda figured you went full sized JB, single coil Red Devil and lil 59.

The Godin Session model I have started life as an HSS and I didn’t want to reroute and look for or make a new pickguard. If it was routed for a neck humbucker, I would have installed a Seymour Duncan Jazz and called it a day!

With all due respect, I don’t buy the “tone is the wood” argument for a solid body guitar. An acoustic, sure, but not a solid body. I’m sure you’ve seen the concrete guitar or the cardboard strat. Both sounded pretty good and no “tonewood” in sight.
Not to hijack the topic, but I agree fully.
Pickups are not microphones. While wood may affect natural sustain, an exceptionally bright pickup will not be dulled by placing it in a mahogany body. Changing pickups is a huge tone changer and if one plays with any degree of distortion the subtle difference a maple top makes will not be heard by the amplifier which also changes the tone dramatically.

What glue is used to put the guitar together will not affect the electric tone.

And,,,a pickup will never change the sound of the guitar.
Of course it does. I put a too bright Dimebag pickup in my Yamaha and it is so bright now I need to adjust the amp when I play it. I am changing out tne pickup.
My one Godin LGXSA sounds great, mahogany body, maple top amd has a Custom Custom in it.
The other one, an xtsa, sounded very dull with the stock pickups, bridge almost sounded like neck pickup. Very dull and lifeless.
An SD Distortion brought it back, sounds killer now.
Completey different.
To further that, I have an SD Distortion in one Ibby Prestige.
The other has a Custom Custom I installed. Can hear more beef less mids with the Custom. 2 guitars essentially the same.

Thank you to all that responded. Your advice and opinions are very much appreciated and welcomed. For the time being, I have gone another direction and will see how things play out (pun intended).

Please see my incoming NGD thread for the result.

Sounds like me why reinvent the wheel buy what you need or want in the first place

Sound advice 67plexi.

I have certainly learned that lesson when it comes to amps. I had originally thought of just building an HH hardtail partscaster but this presented itself unexpectedly, so here we care.
