A gazillion miles from nowhere, just beautifully remote country, we out snipe huntin' with our bro @SG John OR @jtcnj

OMG... deadly sharp pains in your right side.... suddenly you realize you absolutely require an EMERGENCY APPENDECTOMY!
(Let's just say in this hypothetical case, we know for sure what the problem is, and that a surgical operation is crucial).

You don't hack out that inflamed appendix? She's gonna burst within' minutes, the infection goes septic in your body cavity, and well... she's gonna be game over, sorry dude. No more snipe hunts for you.

Thankfully, with us we got a real sharp Buck, a survival first aid kit with disinfectant, morphine, clamps, plenty of stuff for sutures, wound dressing antibiotics etc. Basically, the bare minimum of medical gear required. Plus, the very best thing? A sat phone with access to this handy DIY Youtube video!

Most importantly, your best bro-dude knows how exactly how serious the situation is, though you do find it a little unsettling to see how excited he is to get in there and start cuttin'.

Luckily, we have a choice!

Base yours on what you know of each of these fine upstanding guitar bro fellows, plus any info they might care to offer as persuasion. 24 hour vote, the bro who gets the most votes, moves on in the Battle of The Bros ladder.
The other bro? Well, from that day on he hunts solo.

This is so weird, bordering morbid.

I see this thread spiraling into uncharted territory quickly

It's all just fantasy, hypothetical. No need to get deep in the weeds.

Who do you believe has the concentration, the steady hand, and would perform best? I think both would be willing to give it a go.

Personally, I was EXCEPTIONAL at Operation

I don't even know if @jtcnj is aware of this battle, but if he doesn't show up to give input, he'll just see a bunch of notifications.

When I set the original 16, I just cruised a bunch of threads and drafted the first 16 fellas I saw, other than wavmixer and myself. There was no thought put into it.

I could have asked for volunteers but that would have taken a week or more.

The question/scenario will be different for every battle.

If you see your name in the list, have not battled yet and want out? Let me know.

I'll jump in early on this one.

My vote goes to @SG John . While I certainly have respect for @jtcnj , SG John has shown some tremendous skill with his guitar builds. I'm believing he could use the same dexterity in dissecting my innards as he's shown with his fine guitar creations.
I was a machinist for thirty years before repairing CNC machines the past sixteen plus years. I do have an eye for detail. And, my work is still in orbit in the International Space Station. I do know how to fix things.

A few posts of member @jtcnj he's no guitar mod slouch...

I used to struggle with nuts under 43mm, but it just resolved over time.

Couldn't sleep this morning so I filed the top of the nut to pretty close, and tried one of the defective Squier CV tuners I have on hand, no good.
I have 3 more to try. I think 1 or 2 of them were ok. Gotta get to work soon.

Took #0 steel wool to the back of the neck and fretboard to de-gloss / sticky poly feel. Left some small swirl scratches but that's ok as it feels great - smooth, not sticky.
I just covered the neck pickup with my fingers (I know better to mask it off), but I don't care as I have a pickup swap on deck.

I have a $15 partial credit coming from ebay. If one of the spares is not adequate, I will buy these tuners. I have used them before and happy:

EDIT: I don't know why I can't post a link; I used the link tab, idk.
They are Musiclily Pro inline Vintage Tuners

Sorry pic - nut is a bit out of focus

Found a dodgy spare tuner that works but is very stiff turning. Better than a broken tuner for now.
A little file work on the fret ends / bevels - were a little scratchy but not bad.
Swapped in the used Gibson 490 R/T I had from a while back. Chipped the treble side of the neck pocket, but ehh, so what.
Fresh strings and function check - everything works, very pleased.

The steel wool rub down on the back of the neck and fretboard, the profile, and dimensions make this neck feel really good to me.
It is still shiny but the sticky poly feel is gone.

Final adjustments and playing to commence this evening.

Funny this came up as just this past weekend I swapped pickups in the cheapy Donner H-H Tele I just got.
I had an unusually difficult time getting the screws started / wrestling the springs.
This was in a pick guard though, not mounting rings.

Seeing he's got the patience to put that much work into the cheapest of the cheap Amazon guitar tells me he Wouldn't just give up on a bro either. I'm pretty much like the Donner brand of dudes, after all. (y)

So far all I have to go on is @SG John and his ability to fix my innards with nothing more than his machinist tools and send my appendix into orbit.

I have a question.
Lets say, I dont have a high tolerance for pain.
Without causing blunt force head trauma (I know all of you too well it's the first thing you all thought of), what would each of you do to try and deaden the pain from this field triage?
